also note that he thinks tony g could be a "victim of a loaded class."

if i had to bet my life on one current NFL player to be a first ballot HOFer, i would put it on tony g.

only regarded as perhaps the best RB ever when he was in his prime.

6th in total yards from scrimmage and 3rd in career TDs (these are for RBs and WRs)

but no, not a 1st ballot guy

Are either current 1st ballot HOFers? Nope. They both will be HOFers if they maintain production sure but that's not the OP's premise.

Brees is definitely first-ballot with a Super Bowl win with the worst franchise in NFL history and a 5,000-yard season in another year.

Guys with Media or image issues have trouble getting in. And recievers have a difficult time getting in

Its really hard to tellwithout knowing whose gonna be in each class and who still wont be in the Hall at that time

Maybe so, but Owens didn't have the same type of issues as guys like Irvin and Carter. Owens might be the 2nd-greatest receiver ever to play the game. Irvin's no-where near his level of on-field production.

I agree with all that but there are some stuffy arse white guys that decide this stuff and i cant see them liking a flashy look at me type player Owens was/is
