This seems to be getting overlooked.

He told Rece in that interview that he was just worn out and didn't feel like he could commit to coaching the way he wants to coach. He also said he's getting to the point where coaches and recruits want to know if he's going to be for the next 3, 4 years and he can no longer say that he will be.

Sounds like he just realized he's at a point where not only can't he do it the way he did 10 years ago, he doesn't need to. He may not have gone out a National Champion, but no one has the resume he does, and maybe no one ever will.

This nonsense of suggesting that anyone retiring must be "broken" is ridiculous, especially with regard to Saban.
