You bring up a good point, people should only change if they care about the people who shared they were uncomfortable.
You do not have to do that for everyone, and you should not assume everyone will get offended. If they do, they need to at least give you a warning like a loved one would before getting all uppity.

Many people refer to tank tops as wifebeaters without ever really thinking about it. I did not stop until my fiance informed me how offensive it was to her. Sure, I did not intend to be offensive at all. But I unknowingly was. And she has a right to be offended by that.
Sounds like she needs her arse beat.
Obviously kidding, but how in the hell does that offend her?

Yep, it's a contagion spread by listening.

Letting a phrase like that slip into the broadcast is a failure to do your job and puts in doubt your reliability in the future
Any good announcer practices and refines their craft where something like this is unacceptable

For example, I used to refer to tank tops as wifebeaters. Alot of people do. Obviously I don't beat my wife, nor would I ever approve of anyone who does. And you have the right to tell her shes being an emotional moron.

I'm so sick of the "ATLEAST IT STARTED A DIALOGUE" argument. No, we should be telling these people to shut the frick up and get some thicker skin.
