I'm sure they did, it didn't take many to pony up 40K for new greens, I'm sure the other members was accommodated at Atchafalaya or wherever.

The only benefit of being a member of a private club in my lifetime has been being able to get on at other private clubs, or I just had a good pro....I could careless about the rest of the BS that goes along with it, I get bored playing the same course over and over anyways. Just my opinion....

Ellendale's membership is spoiled. The course has been so immaculate for so long that any little hiccup means a major reno. The only thing keeping me from joining right now is that I heard there's another major project coming down the pipe that I would rather not get assessed for

It is pretty nice. Kind of stuffy, but nice

Is it normal for new greens to be rock hard? Heard Ellendale's are like that now. Would have thought the opposite

Ill be joining le triomphe once moving back to Lafayette. That's in a couple years tho.

I love atchafalaya. Just hate that its in fricking Patterson.
You put that course in Lafayette as public and it would make a killing.

Squirrel Runs fall from grace is the biggest disappointment ever.

I wouldn't think they would be rock hard unless something messed up with the renovation.

A little searching shows that Ellendale renovated to MiniVerde.

Everyone I've talked to so far said if the pin is in the front you have to run it on, pin in the back you have to play to the front, etc

Before the renovation, Ellendale’s greens were 47 years old and lacked a drainage system. Sanders Golf, a nationally recognized golf course construction company, was contracted to update the grounds and increase the overall usage of land at the country club. With the accountability to work on the greens at Augusta National, which hosts the Masters Tournament, Kevin Faulk, former board member from 2009–2013 involved with this project, says Ellendale’s board members knew Sanders Golf was the team for the greens renovations taking place in Houma.

I'd say 47 years was a little overdue. Especially with no drainage system. That's incredible they hadn't renovated before now.

Bermudagrass is firm. There is no doubt about that.

Fast. That's what people want. And it's hard to get fast without firm.

NTEP results from around 2000. MS-Supreme #1 in Arizona.

Seems all of the MSU bred grasses do well out west. Like the one used at the Rose Bowl.

Yeah but they did a several million dollar reno like 10 years ago. Nobody thought about the greens then? I have heard the course is still swamped right now, while LaTour is off path and relatively dry considering the weather we've had. Next major project to get voted on there is a full drainage project for the course from what I've heard. Fuuuuuuuck that

Country club politics.

Agronomic reasoning is not always the leading reason for golf course decisions. Actually, I don't know if it ever is the leading reason.

Joining there is throwing $ away IMO, the 2500 a year pass at Atchafalaya is cheap and you can take carts off path the day after a hurricane.
