I hit a 6 iron about 170 Saturday. Then I hit a 7 iron that wouldn't even carry some f'd up little par 3 playing 155 or some crap.
Your 7 iron's got some juice.

Yeah it just depends, it's really a 6 iron so thats about the same. I hit it 155-160 some days and 170-175 some days. I could probably pick up some distance if I didn't hit it so high

But if I hit a green, it usually stops, which is nice

I had a 6 iron onto an island green Saturday, a lot like the one on the back at L'Augusta, within 5 or 6 feet. One of the few shots I'll actually post about from that round.
I still 2 putted.

Well I think I'm gonna crank the covert down to 8.5 and see what she does next round. Wasn't mad at the shots I was hitting, but I still think I'm above my optimum trajectory. Pretty soon I'll be on a 4 degree driver as a band aid for whatever it is in my swing that makes me hit it high
ETA : my shots are majestic though

8.5
I'd really like to try that. Never have hit an 8.5* driver.
Posted on 6/17/13 at 8:21 pm to BRgetthenet
That's the main reason I bought it. It can go from 8.5-12.5 which is more than most of the others. I haven't tried it yet but I will next round

I hit my R11 set to 8
A shaft will do way more in getting the ball to quit ballooning from my experience

So, are you saying a steel shaft in a 9.5* 910, or a 10.5* R11 will move it out there and keep the trajectory lower more so than hitting an 8.5* of either type club?
I'm talking in terms of me. Not you.

I don't know anything about steel shafts in drivers
Not since the day of my callaway steelhead

I wouldn't call what my shots do ballooning really, just high throughout. I do it with all clubs. My old driver would still go a pretty good ways on occasion but nver got any roll because it was falling from so high

Yeah, they seem to be a thing of the past. Kind of like white belts. I'm gonna try it.
The steel shaft, not the white belts.

Guess I'll be sporting the classic look this weekend then

Call it the Johnny Miller throwback.

I'm joining the white belt club. Where did y'all get yours?
