Nothing wrong with a rooting preference, we all have rooting preferences. For example I was rooting for Oklahoma tonight, not that I had anything agianst Florida, because I knew I'd see multiple threads on here giving the SEC a blowjob if they did win. Again, nothing personal against the SEC as it is my favorite conference, but take pride in serious shite. The conference with which your school is affiliated with in sports is about as serious as Chris Rock

Wow, strong statement. One more try, then I give up.

Taking pride in ones association with a smaller subset of a larger population that excells at the endeavor that unites them is NEVER a stupid concept. If you are going to do something, do your best and be proud when you excell. The SEC excells at football. People like winning and winners.

I absolutely want the SEC to win. I will root for the SEC team every time. I want the media to think the SEC is the best conference so what happened to Auburn does not happen to my TIGERS one day. So taking pride in the SEC and wanting all SEC teams to win the bowl games they play in actually helps my team in the long run.

No, most clear minded people will agree with me. Conference pride is one of the stupidest concepts I've ever heard of. Now, I don't go to an SEC school so I don't know what the frick goes on down there. But I'm gonna go ahead and assume that all 12 schools don't have little get togethers and have a sense of comradery amongst one other as far as the student bodies. In fact, alot of shite I read on the Rant on here suggests LSU fans hate schools like Ole Miss and Alabama... and yet there is this conference pride... as if schools affiliated with you in a football conference is something to take pride in. And yet, there is this sense of nonsensical pride...

But whatever floats peoples boat. Some people are Communists and some people are a part of the Aryan brotherhood. They think their behavior is rational. Again, nothing personal, whatever floats your boat.

Mr. Ghazi, what you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I've ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response was there anything that could even be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Of course, this isn't anything new.

You're an idiot. "Conference Pride" is why LSU got picked over USC in 2003 and over VT in 2007.

I would say that LSU got picked ahead of those teams because the SEC was the best conference in the nation, not because people had pride in their conference. That Florida won the national title this year does not necessarily increase the chances of LSU making the title game in the future. Again, just my humble opinion.

I have no problem with people who take pride in their conference, I just think it's a little over the top and irrational.
