all I heard was, 'Its great to be a Florida Gator'. Silly the LSU fans that thought the Gator fans would actually return last years favor.

FLorida fans are too smart to do it. The conference did not win a title, the school won a title. Just because that school happens to be from that conference does not mean the other 11 teams from that conference should be allowed to live vicariously through it. If one chants SEC it is essentially giving Kentucky a piece of the national championship. And last I checked, Kentucky did jack shite this year.
Again, nothing personal against the SEC, I'm just not an advocate of conference pride. Take pride in your school family nation health whatever, but the conference with which your school is affiliated with in sports is not something one should take pride in.

My brother in law was at the game and just told me there was a pretty big SEC chant after the game before the awards

I really don't see the diference. Do you believe that the NFC East or the North divisions in NFL football take pride in their associations? They may not chant the conference name but College is much more emotional than pro. You can damn sure bet that those players are more proud to be in "the black and blue division" than if they were in the NFC west.
I just heard the SEC chant on ESPN and I am glad I heard it.

No, most clear minded people will agree with me. Conference pride is one of the stupidest concepts I've ever heard of. Now, I don't go to an SEC school so I don't know what the frick goes on down there. But I'm gonna go ahead and assume that all 12 schools don't have little get togethers and have a sense of comradery amongst one other as far as the student bodies. In fact, alot of shite I read on the Rant on here suggests LSU fans hate schools like Ole Miss and Alabama... and yet there is this conference pride... as if schools affiliated with you in a football conference is something to take pride in. And yet, there is this sense of nonsensical pride...

There is only one time of the year we do this...Natl Title game...is that so bad? If we can't win it, why not pull for a team that is in the South and in the SEC? Its almost like a Southern Pride thing.
