The award is league mvp. Most valuable player for the league that year. Not who is most valuable to their team. That is hypothetical BS. HARDWN won it in one of the biggest land slides ever and deservedly so.

LOL just made my point, without Harden probably nothing happens detrimentally to the league's value because LeBron, KD and Steph are still playing. Harden's just a guy, a great and prolific player but his absence doesn't leave any void for the league relative to appeal and influence across the board. Hence my statement for renaming the award to Best Regular Season Award or Best Season Storyline Award.

Lebron was outscored when on the court up until very late in the season. Just an outright embarrassing feat for a player of his caliber, showing that counting stats don’t even come close to telling the whole story.
