Very solid coach during his days at Woodlawn.

I was not happy when he left there.

Ohh... well that doesn't narrow it down for me .. but all i will say is inappropriate relations with a players mom.... think about it.. u said it was due to losing... he was hired after ensminger left us high and dry about a month before school started.. mahfouz did a pretty good job we just didnt have any team leadership from the seniors then... we missed the playoffs by one game.. and increased our win total by two from the previous year... why would u fire your coach ??

Carlton and CJ Perkins are stud athletes

If I'm not mistaken Franklinton's next game is against Walker. Have no idea why Walker's coaching staff would want to do that to those poor kids. lol

I have been in Walker all of my life. Graduated from WHS in '96. The problem with the football program has ALWAYS been coaching. John Guerin basically ran the program in the ground. Bill Spears, before him, was a good coach. I played for him, then. The best coach to ever grace the halls of Walker High School was Eddie Vaughn. Boys basketball coach from '96-'01(?). Margaret Peak, retired principal, had him run off because he wouldn't conform to what she thought a coach should be.

It means enough is enough. What % of the kids in Livingston parish that receive free lunches really truly can't afford to pay? You can't tell me a kid can't save enough money for a pair of fricken cletes.

As a coach who is around these kids alot, the answer is some. And dru helps those kids out.

I literally had a conversation with a kid 2 days ago who was worried about not being able to afford new cleats next year. I mentioned Denham high putting in the new turf, and he said "oh does that mean I need to get new cleats? My mom
Just bought these." she had bought him
New cleats over the summer

I told him no, but he was worried about it.

I was the same way when I was their age. My father left my mother and me when I was 2, and my mother never got past the 10th grade. We didn't have alot of money to be throwing around, And neither do some of these kids' parents

Got it...so Nike and other brands should stop providing free shoes and other equipment to certain schools? No you say?

So then what is wrong with a coach or organization helping out a few kids here and there.... You realize the players at LSU and the like don't pay for their shoes?

It's not like it's coming out of your pocket, so why does it bother you?

The above statement is what bothers me.

It's not about the $$ it's about teaching the kids a way of life.

yeah, those life lessons that nothing's free and all that, don't have your hand out, etc.

I agree that the "entitlement" mentality of our country is insanely out of control and i'm as against all that as anyone. But i still see nothing wrong with this, as I've taught school and coached in the past and have seen first hand that helping some of these kids out like this can make a difference that is in itself a life lesson.

All new entitlement programs look good on paper. The problem is people abuse them or start to consider them a right. I have no problem if Dru offered them shoes for work.
