Yep. Got injured during a Monday night game and fans started cheering. Dan Dierdorf and/or Frank Gifford tore into them on air.

He was a longtime QB coach in Dallas, but is probably best known as a Vikings QB.
He took over for Tommy Kramer late in the ‘87 season and upset the Saints and 49ers on the road. The Vikings lost a close game to the Redskins in the NFC championship, The Redskins destroyed Denver in the Super Bowl.
He remained the starter in ‘88, and had a great season. He finished his career as a backup again. He was with the Saints for a couple of seasons in the early 90’s, before moving to the Cowboys as a backup to Aikman and won a ring.
He was diabetic and had some complications in the last couple of years.

Damn. I'll never forget being in elementary school and the euphoria that swept over the city during his 5-0 start that year with the Saints. RIP

Suicide? Maybe heart attack? Drug overdose?

Seems like an unexpected death. Is asking questions supposed to make it less sad?

This is shocking.
An all-time great from East Texas State University.

People getting pissy because someone asked if it could be a suicide need to get over themselves.
In today’s football world, we see former players doing this because of head injuries. It doesn’t take a genius to think that MAYBE that could be the case.

Yeah, he was a back up to Aikman along with current Cowboys coach Jason Garrett (1995-1997). Those were his 14th, 15th, and 16th seasons in the NFL.
RIP
