Maybe it's because they have a very high level of confidence in the ability of other professional drivers to avoid them on a 5 car wide race track when under caution.
Do you still think he hit him on purpose?

I think he got close to him on purpose and spun his back end out on purpose. I don't think he consciously wanted to kill the guy, but I do think he wanted to intimidate him and didn't try NOT to hurt him.

Are we really to believe he didn't see him at all?

It's possible he didn't see him until it was too late.

Agreed. But it is also possible he tried to intimidate him. It is also actually possible that he wanted to hit him

Again, though, did his back end break loose?
If it did, why did it?

Is he not a good enough driver to prevent that?

Maybe he saw him at the last minute and gunned it in an effort to get around him. That would be stupid and not square with the reality of just how good a driver Tony is, but it's possible.

All true. But I'm not going to crucify a guy based on that.

I don't know what that means. If you're asking why his car jolts a certain way when he collides with Ward, maybe it's because there is a body caught up in the wheels.

You don't know shite about driving and racing, how do you say this so matter of factly?

Ok, just being devils advocate, isnt it maybe a little, let's say, coincidental that only Stewarts car did that while passing Ward?

Right. Good reason to lay off the accelerator if there's anything near your back end that you don't want to damage.

But maybe y'all are right. Maybe Tony didn't see the guy and still for some reason accelerated right when he passed him. Or maybe Tony is just not a very good driver and didn't realize that accelerating would cause his car to do that.

Maybe it's because there was a body underneath it, and not the other cars.

Only 5 cars passed while Ward was out of his car, and you can't see 3 of the 5's tires. Reach much?

The more I watch the video, the more it looks like Stewart was going around the 45 and Ward was in the way of that.

And Ward looks even dumber now that the initial shock of oh crap that dude died has worn off.

That is where the main argument/difference of opinion rests right now. Some(including me) thinks the car starts moving that way before making contact with Ward, while others(you) think the car does not move until making contact. As of right now anyone who thinks they are definitively right is fooling themselves. That goes for both sides

Instinct tells you to accelerate and swerve.

And the cars are designed to drift to begin with.

Moral of the story: don't be an idiot and challenge a vehicle like that on freaking foot. Nothing good could come of it.

Gives you less control of the vehicle.

I love how you won't engage me because of the way I "argue," when all you do is regurgitate the same two questions.

Well so we are thinking TS was trying to make an illegal move?

ETA: Techinally not illegal, but we all know in racing it is known not to pass on a yellow
