If the Big 12 could drop two north teams they could move OU and OSU to the north. They could then add possible teams TCU and Houston. They could have the Texas Division.

How would UNLV stack up academically in the Pac 10? I can see Utah or Colorado a lot easier. Hawai'i would be too expensive with all the travel and would really add nothing market wise to the conference.

No reason at all to add Hawai'i. Colorado seems like a good addition to the Pac10 both academically and athletically.

Utah is ranked 63rd in the latest USN rankings of public schools (LSU is 64th) and 126th overall (still Tier 1)

I'd like that idea. If they lose CU and Mizzou that seems very reasonable.

The only "joke" would be our football team

This is the biggest money maker and the pac ten wants to make a splash in a sense. Introducing UNLV over say Utah and Colorado wouldn't go over well. The pac ten already has a couple of garbage football teams. Oregon State has only been good for ten years, I doubt they ever look back though but the point is the pac ten gets shite for its conference strength. Adding UNLV football would bring jokes. You guys have decent football recruits and access to Cali but you haven't capitalized on it. Your football team is the main reason why you won't be added.

Colorado isn't great but they have more history as a football team. I think going to the pac ten would help them out recruiting wise. They can rebuild easier and quicker than UNLV. They can recruit Texas and Cali now, not that they couldn't recruit Cali before but being part of the conference makes the sell easier.

I don't think the rankings really matter. They let in fricking ASU. What the conference seems to care about is that a school is a major, flagship research university. The only two schools in the region that fit that description are Utah and CU

If they can't get those two, I doubt there is any expansion at all

This will never happen, the schools wouldn't want all of the extra travel and expense for sure. The schools all already have inroads to Hawaii as far as recruits go so they have what they want.

I think Utah and BYU make the most sense imo but I understand why BYU wouldn't want to leave. Utah is itching to join a major conference. I think their football team will be better overall in the long run anyway which is why they would make the jump. Since BYU won't leave most likely Colorado seems ok, their campus isn't that much further than Utah's campus.

That would actually make that conference legit. OU would have an easier road to the big 12 cg. They would take it.

im sure the pac 10 would like BYU and utah, same state rivalry, but BYU refuses to play sports on sundays which isnt a fit for the pac 10

While true, I was just pointing out that Utah and CU are MUCH better academic institutions than Boise State

Other obvious question that springs to mind is who the Big 12 makes a grab for (to replace Colorado)

Arky or TCU would be my guess.

It is the main reason I like it, because all of the rivalries are the same in a sense (minus cali but it's north and south rivalries). I think the pac ten is the only conference like that.

I read that about sunday games, that and they have been on top of that conference for the most part. That may be another reason they wouldn't want to leave.

Isn't Boise a glorified Community college, academic wise?

Oh yeah. The elitists that run the Pac-10 would shite their pants if someone even suggested that a school that was a community college 30 years ago join the conference

What sports would that directly affect? Girls basketball and baseball? Who else plays on Sundays?

That's just an excuse. What they really want is two major media markets rather than 1 and getting Utah and CU does that

Oregon women's bball plays 9 sunday games this season. Women's golf has 3 sundays scheduled. Men's and women's tennis both have several sunday events. Women's soccer has several. Volleyball only had two. Men's baseball and softball goes without saying. I didn't want to check all of the schools because they are probably pretty similar.......you would think anyway but that is what I came up with and I checked all the schedules.

That could very well be true. Money talks, it also get more than one region to travel to sporting events and maybe even increase tourism to many of the popular cities up and down the coast in the long run. Same vice versa...

All CU does is recurit Cali and Texas as it is is, and it woudl be easier.

Geography would be the only downside as the nearest current Pac 10 school is a 15 hour drive (ASU). Every game in every sport would be a plane ride, but it's not as though they are really near any Big XII schools now anyway.

Yea it would be weird having a Pacific Conference having a team in Colorado.

Geography and market wise, Vegas is very tantalizing for the Pac-10. People love coming to the Entertainment Capital of the World. We usually have the same amount (if not more) of visiting fans for football games.
