Yeah, but our options are pretty limited
Hence the Heath Pearce idea.

We need some Cladio Reyna or Eddie Lewis!

Alright buddy, please tell me how that makes him "the shite"?
I didn't say it made him "the shite"...i said it was clearly a foul
But fwiw, if you can't seen the potential a 19 year old kid has and how much problems he's giving the defending World Cup champions, then i don't know what else to say.

I'd love to see the US get a counter goal. They'll need one to win. Italy will get something in the second half. Hopefully they'll only get one.
Even before kickoff I'd have been happy with getting a point......after the red 1 point was likely the best outcome. If they can somehow pull this one out it would be stunning. I like they way they're playing right now though.

I'm unbelievably pleased with that half. I can't remember the last time I was this happy with our side. I'm annoyed with Clark, but that shouldn't have been a red. In my opinion, if that's a red, the elbow is too. Altidore is my boy for drawing that penalty. Spector is awesome. Onyewu has been an absolute beast heading balls out of the box (I laughed at the time he dove to head a ball that was 6 inches off the ground. Reminded me of the stuff I do playing defense).

They are going to run at Bornstein this half.
im really shocked that Bornstein is our best option right now. thats pretty awful

I hope Heath Pearce never steps on the field again....
Positive note...Clark can't play next game so either Torres or Adu are gonna have to play

i almost had a heart attack when he knocked that ball down a few minutes into the game. all i could see was tomas rosicky. apart from that, he has been an absolute rock

Bornstein played very well last game. I think he came out a little rusty, and not really ready to handle the Italians...i really think he'll bounce back this half.

should update the main thread title

I agree the US looked good in the first half. Faster in transition, great ball by Donovan to Bradley with Altidore's run creating space. If we can get a second we will steal 3 points. One goal won't be enough to secure 3.

this team needs Kenny Cooper....badly

I'm really worried about our Left back, especially if in the second half Italy has Zambrotta push up on attack more often.
rmcc,
i really want hejduk to get healthy. i think he was one more productive cup left in him

Yeah... Altidore has a lot of potential.
Just check the U-20 World Cup that was in Canada a few years ago.
Altidore/Adu/Sztella/Sal Zizzo....those guys were money during the U-20s in 2007.
Altidore and Adu were scoring machines, that I wish the Full National Team had.

I think Donovan, Bradley, and Bocanegra summed things up pretty well. Qualifying out of CONCACAF for the WC is no longer the sole objective. The US needs to start advancing deeper into big time tourneys against tougher competition.

How does everyone feel about the DeMerit/Onyewu combination?
