When she hits that gear in the last 20-ish meters, man.

And she set the world’s fastest time this year.

Like I said earlier she’s our only shot at gold. Without her it’s probably over

ETA: it does seem like she’s cleaned up her act some.

Had a horrible start as well. And she coasted at the finish.

World's top time and she let up in the last 5m.

It is a treat to watch our women in the sprints/mid distance run so smoothly. I think our men in the field events are the same. That Shot Put competition was great. Crouser really hit the nail on the head when he said the rest of the world might only be able to qualify 1 into tonight's finals.

I believe NBC said all three are short of the Olympic standard. I'm sure they'll be going but it doesn't sound like they are locked in.

ETA: With the Olympic Trials in full swing Chicken really ought to open up the Olympics board. We know that some of these events are basically determining which 3 Americans will be on the podium in Paris. (The Aussie-US rivalry in the pool looks to be all the way back this year with Titmouse and McIntosh being legit challengers.)

Ahh missed that. Was watching on mute. Looks like all 3 are close on season best. Imagine they’ll be close on ranking as well.

It's so much fun watching Engels run well again. I'm glad he's enjoying himself out there. I know it's a long LONG shot but I'd love to see him sneak into the top 3. He doesn't have the standard yet and his season best was tonight but it'd be such a cool comeback

Not sure I’ve ever watched the trials. Can’t watch the swimming/diving but the track and field trials are awesome.

Let’s hope team USA doesn’t lose any top track athletes to these ridiculous trials

At least Richardson made it
Now Lyles needs to get through on men’s side

We’ve already lost one of the top vaulters.

While I generally agree this isn’t a good way to pick an Olympic team it doe’s mimic the high pressure they’ll feel in the Olympics at least.

For the swimming trials, don't you have to already be an elite swimmer to make the team? I think they have level standards based on your recent performances.

I believe there's an "Olympic Standard" for nearly all sports. I know for T&F a lot of countries are limited to 2 but the US usually gets a 3rd because those with recent world championships don't count towards those 2. The US has sent 3 shot putters for years, first with Nelson/Godina and now Crouser & Kovacs.

There are standards to make the trials.

So what is everyone watching tonight, NBC or a specific event on Peacock?

My wife was a thrower (and coached them) so we're about to watch the Hammer finals. Hopefully it'll be done before the 800s are run.

I’m a track guy so I watch the running. Going for a run with a buddy here in a bit so I’ll miss the first bit unfortunately
