Yea the vaulter was the American lead this year and got knocked out in qualifying if I understood right.

Honestly not sure he would’ve medaled in the 2 anyway but missing him in the 100 is going to hurt. Not sure Fred can really be a factor for the podium.

Good call! KC Lightfoot
We have a tough team to make but he was supposed to be top 3. Also he is one of these guys who has just always underperforms in big meets.

I still can't believe Shecarri didn't make the 200 team with the times she was running in the heats.
Those youngsters really must have been running with fire. Shecarri also ran the turn very wide so she wouldn't DQ, so maybe that was the issue, but she just dint have the gas to chase down those 200 specialists on the back flat.
Gabby Thomas smoked that race, but Richardson had legit chance to go double.
Reahrdkess that women's 200 final was insanely stacked. There was starpower everywhere.
As for the men, I thought Kenny had it, but Lykes is just in peak form right now. I don't know what kind of field the Jamaicans will have, but USA sprints are just loaded right now.

The talent in her heat alone; all could have qualified really. But let her run the 100 and anchor leg of the relay. She’s headed to Paris.

The American relay squads should be something else with the amount of talent and depth they have. Start having them men 4x1 team practice baton exchange now...

The world relay squads did very well, and I don’t think the men have had a major issue since the last Olympics, so I’m hopeful.
Coleman would clearly start the relay, Lyles would close. Kenny has done well in the middle, so it’s really hoping Kerley is good on the hand-offs. In the first round, I would bring the guys who did prelims at the world relays because they have the practice. And time is clearly not the issue.

Well boys (and belle)… this is it :(
Distance events should be entertaining tonight. Womens 1500 and mens 5k should be pretty tightly contested. Just noticed st. Pierre is carded from some contact that happened in the semis with Sage Huerta so that may be something to watch (similar to Richardson in the 200 if she gets carded again today she’s out) Obviously syd is always fun in the hurdles.
Men Hammer could be interesting. 2 have the standard there.
Women’s vaults we have 3 with the standard and a few more with the ranking to be safe.
Men HJ: 2 have the standard there
Men TJ: 1 standard currently 2 more with ranking
Women Jav: only one standard there. No one else seems to have the ranking to for sure be safe.

Loudermilk and Wilson competed in the same small class (2A) in Kansas throughout their hs careers. Their senior year state meet against each other was something. I think Wilson cleared like 7’2” or something near there to win. Was standing right next to the bar when he went and it was nuts to witness. Don’t know how anyone gets that high much less an 18 y/o kid.

#3 high jumper in the world Harrison out of the HJ in 4th. Still has a chance of making the team if Snowden doesn’t clear here I believe.
Posted on 6/30/24 at 6:22 pm to Pedro
The other guy also doesn’t have the standard, right? Not McEwen but the third place guy.
Huge choke job by Harrison but I think he will be going to Paris still.

He doesn’t have it but I think I heard the announcer say he’s in the top 30. Idk.

This ranking thing confuses me way more than I feel like it should. I don’t think it’s as simple as having the 30 highest clearances in the world.

Since they both couldn’t get a higher height, do you think their world rankings will surpass the top 30 or whatever they need?
The world rankings are pretty opaque as far as I can see.

I just looked the formula up and am still confused. Being a math guy it really shouldn’t be this complicated.
I honestly have no idea. I’m guessing we’ll find out by tomorrow.
Kincaid ain’t messing around.

Kincaid has to make the standard so no reason to sit around

Harrison got fourth in the high jump. He has the standard and could get in on his very high ranking but will have to wait. The second place high jumper - Snowden - doesn't have the standard and has a very low ranking. A pretty dominant win by Shelby McEwen - who had the standard before the competition. Third place finisher Wilson doesn't have the standard and is ranked in the 40s.
This is what a guy posted on Let’s Run
I have no idea where he sees the world rankings but he sounds like he knows what he’s talking about

He’s screwed himself now by not covering that move

Sounds good enough to me
