Shows his character and no legit university would want to be associated with that.
In a high profile role like that, you can't have someone that scummy as the face of your program.

His lies at media day were very specific media day. Found out in a text, called the office to see if they knew anything, etc. He even said he doesn't know why someone would make up a story like that.
And he wasn't prepared to speak on something that he himself led with at freakin' media days?
And because he wasn't prepared, he decided to give a very specific lie in response.

This is him and the university floating the "I lied but didn't do anything else wrong" theory to see if it'll keep the outrage down enough for him to stick around. They're gauging what'll satisfy the public.

Meyer could have put him on paid leave while the university did an investigation. The AD if he knew, also could have done this.
