In the NFL Allen has 40 seconds to shake it off & no one constantly kicking his shins & feet( very sensitive PADDED areas ) .These guys are running full speed & getting kicked in the fricking shin. I don't believe I need to explain how painful that is .
Run full speed & smash your shin or toes. You'd roll around 10-15 seconds too.

That might be a relevant comparison if each team just stood there and dribbled without even attempting a shot for the last 2:00. This is the equivalent of trying to take a knee for the rest of the game after going up 10-0 in the second quarter.
Yeah, but is running up the score in a playoff game like Jags vs Phins in 1999 really anymore exciting?
Once the Jags went up 30 points over Marino and Miami in 1999, it got boring. Less tedious to watch if they just kept the ball on the ground and run out the clock. It wasn’t like that was the Super Bowl or anything.
Here, USA knows there are bigger games to play and are doing what needs to be done to just get out without making a mistake. It’s still fun to watch because it’s USA taking care of business to get to the next level of World Cup play.

Why does this happen in soccer, how in the world do we just seem to sit there and let them stay right by our goal?

A last minute goal here by Persians would be amazing

Imagine a game so stupid where you score 1 goal early on and just try to bleed the clock for the rest of the game. Literally 1 point
at least there are no commercials
college football
score
commercial
kick
commercial
flip to another game, Commercial
flip back to the original game, review then Commercial then punt then Commercial

That right there is why this method of playing defense is stupid.

No commercials is the best part about Soccer. It's a beautiful game, but you have to be able to appreciate it for what it is. A very strategic game that encourages grown men to act like they get shot when they get touched.

If they call this a penalty.

I'm not saying it is an unreasonable strategy. It's just not a very entertaining strategy to watch.

Those types of scenarios are the outliers...highlighted by the fact your example is the largest margin of victory in 80 years of playoff games. 1-0 victories in soccer games where the leading team goes into a complete defensive shell for a long stretch are not uncommon...at all.
Again, the US is completely justified in doing so. It's just incredibly boring to watch.

I’m not much of a soccer expert but it seems like we don’t have a very good team
