it all really isn't a big deal in lafayette and it doesn't have to be. a lot of the real fratty schools like Bama or Ole Miss are like that b/c there just isn't much to do.

You can probably throw UGA in there as well.

definetly. The schools in mid to big cities like SCe, Vandy, LSU, and Kentucky don't have big/serious greek scenes like those three.

Yeah I guess I've never really thought about it that way, but that makes some sense. Similar to W&L.

LSU has a pretty big Greek scene.

ETA: Just because Baton Rouge is big doesn't mean there is anything to do.

The fact is, any gameday in the SEC will always trump a gameday in Lafayette. And that's really all that matters for purposes of this thread.

For quantity....sure. Cajun Field doesn't have 70k + fans on Saturdays to tailgate. As for quality...the hospitality, food, and music go neck and neck with any school in the SEC.

As for whoever said that Oxford, Tuscaloosa, BR, and Athens are better than Lafayette. Quit being an SEC homer, please. Outside of the colleges in those towns, there ain't jack sh*t to do.

Hey BIGSIKE, If NSU would have a better atmosphere maybe you would be able to sell a few more season tickets?

Columbia's a nicer town than Lafayette. I hear Lexington is real nice, but never been.

Silly silly arse thread.

dude, if LSU had no football program worth a damn and a bunch of inbreds for a student body it would be the same thing

I graduated from LSU and truthfully the tailgating never blew me away, yes it was fun and there were a lot of people, but its so spreadout and disjointed that you really have to have one group, set up in a spot and be with them the whole time. Plus there are a lot of trashy, trashy people who come out with no affiliation to the unviersity.

Oxford on the otherhand has the Grove, where tailgating is centralized and pretty damn nice. I like being able to bounce from setup to setup and seeing a lot of different friend's tailgates. Plus Oxford is a little nicer, nobody blasting rshitty music right next to you... maybe I'm just a snob though.

Looks like a nice turnout from those pictures. I'm liking the setup, is it usually that packed for every game? Or was thins an abberation thanks to the local opponent?

If fans didn't pack tiger stadium every game, LSU would have to actually try to do different things to get people there. Selling tickets is of one of the things that makes college football so lucrative.

2009-2010 Athletic Department total ticket revenue
LSU Revenue: $31,721,048
ULL Revenue: $1,486,071

You obviously don't go to LSU basketball games where they try everything under the sun to get people excited about being there. That was what I was tried describing about ULL's game atmosphere. If they start winning they could have something special for their level of football.

I'm an LSU fan so I know how to spot LSU snobs from a mile away.

The home opener is usually the biggest one, but the tailgating is always pretty packed. That picture I posted is just of the area near Reinhart Drive, where the baseball field and the track/soccer complex is. To the right of that picture there are more people in the parking lot tailgating and on the other side of the stadium is the student tailgating lot.
