Very underwhelmed by Max vs. Poirier for his retirement fight. Yeah, Nate would have been great, they were scheduled to fight in 2018 but Poirier got injured. Poirier really wanted that one back vs. Gaethje, that would have been good too, close out the trilogy.

Poirier said he really tried to get Torpuria, but the UFC wasn’t having it.

I would have fainted if they announced that right. Illia v Dustin would’ve been a banger.

I'm eager to see how they stack this card. I doubt any other title fights will be part of this show. Anybody have an any idea of when we can expect a comain to get announced? Also, I have an inside source who is part of the Gracie Jiu Jitsu team that said Holobough has a big fight coming up. He's starting camp now.

id bet anything brendan allen, macy chaisson if she doesnt get injured in the next fight, and the other chick from lafayette carli judice. I dont think this card will be stacked. It seems like at the very least they would have to do another decent name 155 fight. what happens if Max has to pull out?

Check out the Vettori vs Dolidze 2 card. It'll probably look a lot like that. shite ton of Louisiana fighters--both men and women--in the promotion. Matt Schnell could also be available again by that time.

Oliveira? He needs a fight and if he beat top 5 Poirier, he almost assuredly would be next in line for his Islam rematch.

Ribas is American Top Team, I’d expect a good bit of them on the card

Both are ranked in the top 10.. probably not.

Doubt it's the co-main though.

Tickets go on sale next week, there should be several other fights announced

Edit: Tickets don't go on sale next week, now it says May 22

Winning a point fight by not even attempting to finish a fight isn’t BMF worthy. You aren’t the BMF if all you prove is that your wrestling is the best in the world (ala GSP back in the day). That’s why the BMF belt isn’t always on the line.
If that's the criteria, then why wasn't the BMF belt on the line vs. Topuria? He's known for his KOs and he KO'd Max in that match. So the BMF belt is also just not on the line for no apparent reason sometimes? Or it's only on the line when the UFC says so or needs to up the ante on a card?

Championship belts are win-or-lose. BMF belt is like, well even though Topuria KO'd Max in BMF fashion, the belt wasn't on the line, so Max is still the BMF. Nonsense.

You never truly have 2 belts on the line in any fight. Example: Islam did not get the 145 belt when he beat Volk.

Pretty common in boxing to not have all titles on the line for every fight.

That being said, everyone realizes the BMF title is a gimmick, but the fighters like it. There’s been talk that the BMF title will be done if Poirier wins and retires with it

Yeah, because both guys have to be at the same weight, so only one belt can be on the line. But the BMF isn't tied to weight class, so there's no reason they couldn't. It's a gimmick supposedly about who's the baddest MF'er. The way things went with Max-Topuria is the perfect circumstance to expose just how much of a gimmick it is. In his very next fight after becoming BMF champ, Max gets KO'd for the first time by another guy. As PeteRose pointed out initially, there was even the extra BMF ante of Topuria pointing to the ring at the beginning of the fight to duke it out, and Max declined. Topuria had a point by walking around with the BMF belt afterward.

Actually the Ngannou-Fury fight would have created a real disaster, much bigger than anything about the BMF belt, if Ngannou had gotten the decision over Fury in their 'Battle of the Baddest' exhibition fight. Because the heavyweight belt is specifically tied to weight, so everyone would have known that even though Fury holds the HW belt, he got beat by another heavyweight while he held it. People would have been calling Fury a fake champ and Ngannou the real champ if that had happened. It almost did happen, the highlight of that fight was Ngannou knocking Fury down.

Another LA guy on the card.
What other LA fighters could we see?
Matt Schnell or Kurt Holobaugh?

The BMF belt is a fake title lol

You could absolutely have had it on the line for an actual title fight.
