Conor made the last two fights look pretty easy I think hell beat Aldo.

Conor is my favorite fighter right now, but Aldo will not be an easy fight at all.. he'll probably be a 2-1 underdog if not more.. in Ireland, I'd give him a lot better chance.. I'm still picking Conor, but I see most experts picking Aldo

I don't follow ufc at all but have been bombarded with ads for this Conor McGregor guy on tv. Did this guy live up to the hype? Is he really as good as they propping him up to be?

I heard a quote on tv comparing him to the GOAT, Ali. He's really worthy of that type of praise?

no, definitely not. Ali is overrated and not even close to goat status.

i'm not a big boxing guy either so I can't comment on that, however, the quote I heard was used in the context of Ali being the GOAT or at least that's how I took it

They said he was the Irish Ali. Ireland only has 5 million people so that may be true there but he is no Ali. Nobody is.

Very few of the fighters (over 500 on contract) in UFC seem to try to make themselves larger than life stars; this guy does, he cuts great promos sometimes even better than Chael and he has insane natural charisma, most I've seen next to the Rock; so you can't blame UFC for pushing him to the moon.

That and he has only lost 22 seconds of about 30 minutes he has spent in the cage. He has the most dominant first 5 fights of anyone in UFC history.

Please stop feeding the trolls in that other thread.

If you didn't like last night's event then I'm convinced you don't like MMA and it's not for you.

That dude doesn't like MMA and he is clearly a troll. He had a 71 page thread to state his concerns but wanted a "look at me I'm a douchebag thread."

Aside from the judging I really enjoyed last night and that was one of hell of a free card.

Uriah Hall, McGregor, Benson Henderson and Cowboy Cerrone and it was free. Shut the front door!

I still think Uriah Hall fricks around too much to ever be a serious contender for the belt

Dude left himself room to get knocked clean out by a scrub because he wants to be Anderson silva so bad. Really a waste because he's one hell of a striker

I would say without a doubt.

It was a perfect storm. McGregor is a masterful showmen and shite talker. The promos during the playoff game, what a better day to real in the 18-45 crowd.

Not to mention the co-main event was a hell of a matchup.

I don't think you can seriously be called the GOAT in any fight sport until you've not only won the belt, but defended it several times.

McGregor looked good last night. While he's a smack talking maniac who seems out of control and unpredictable before and after the bell, he doesn't fight that way at all. In the ring, he's relaxed, deliberate and precise.

As good as he looked, I don't know if he's good enough to take on Jose Aldo yet. Aldo hasn't lost in something like 10 years and is a smart fighter. I can see Aldo leg kicking the crap out of McGregor to neutralize him, as he has with every other dangerous striker he's faced. I've missed a few of Aldo's fights, but I haven't seen anyone defend against those kicks well enough to think McGregor can consistently get in close enough to hurt Aldo.

Should be an entertaining fight, though, either way.
