think Cejudo was looking for a way out. His leg was shot. He was hurting. You can tell he was wondering what the hell he was doing in there. This isn't the young quick guy that took the octagon by storm. This is the un-retired version that's lost 3 in a row now. He should never have played games with the UFC and retired the first time. His legacy is now ruined. If the fight continued he would've gotten knocked out. If he did not get poked, he would've still lost. Those groin shots did not hit the cup, they just hurt like hell.
He looked pretty good to me. He busted song up pretty well.

quote:yep. It was a really good fight. And I think Song was slowly taking over. But he poked Cejudo in the eye and was rewarded with a victory he didn't earn. You never know what could've happened in rounds 4 and 5 if it continued. We've seen crazier things.

But, I think Song ruined what could've been a very good win for himself. He had a great shot at getting a good finish in a good fight. He shouldn't be rewarded for his behavior, though. And he was.

Yeah look no further than cejudo vs moraes
Henry should have just said he can’t continue. But I understand the argument that these guys are warriors and the ref should protect them from themselves.

quote:I'm cool with the ref letting them continue if it's questionable and the fighter lies to them about the condition. Then, the ref has no real way of knowing if the guy is fit to continue. If a fighter tells both the doctor and ref that he can't see clearly, the fight should be stopped 100% of the time by the ref, regardless of the fighter's wishes.

Might as well just call every fight after an eye poke. How many fighters do you think are seeing just as good as they were before the eye poke? Ref gave Cejudo many opportunities during that 5 minutes to let him know that he couldn't continue. Cejudo decided to keep fighting

Some of these people are nuts. Ive had a corneal abrasion. In addition to the vision problems, it is incredibly painful. Like blowtorch on your eyeball fire. I ended up wearing freaking grandma cataract glasses for a week.

That's cool and all. So you tell the ref you can't continue. It's that simple.

Yeah that’s what I am saying. A lot of times they stop them pretty fast.

I dont know saying "i fricking can't see, i can't fricking see" in a slightly panicky voice, the ref should know to step in. One thing with an abrasion, you don't feel it right away. It will be a few minutes before you realize your fricked. For me it was on the ride home from the gym.

I didn’t watch. What exactly happened?

Cejudo got hit on the side of the thigh and overreacted. Then he got eye poked (clearly incidential). He cried to Herzog more about not taking a point than the situation with his eye. He took the entire five minutes and decided he wanted to keep fighting with a minute and a half left in R3.
Song worked him and then he told Herzog after R3 he could not continue due to his eyes. Herzog then started R4 and immediately ended the fight so it went to scorecards since they fought three rounds. Song got the decision. Cejudo kept rambling about a rematch. Dana said after the fight that a rematch ain't happening--clearly Cejudo is going to the glue factory soon

So he did say he couldn’t keep fighting?
