We must have different definitions of an arse whooping. Both stood toe to toe and gave as good as they got.
nah, Belal ended up getting him pretty good in round 4. Other than that, JDM moved his head pretty well and didn't really take any big shots other than that round.

Judges got that correct to me. I figured at least one judge would give him 4 rounds.

I was waiting for split decision . But then he 48-47 twice . When he said 49-46, I said oh shite , new champ

Jack won rounds 1,2, and 5 easily. I gave him 3 also, but could see how someone could give it to Belal.

Well that's certainly a take. Guess we won't credit Belal for outstriking him a round or two as well as the takedowns and ground strikes.

JDM was 1 step ahead on the feet. I thought Belal might steal it at the end with takedowns but JDM still had gas left in the tank and was able to get up. Seems like he could have finished him in round 5 if he kept his foot on the gas. Regardless, great fight from Belal. He held his own on the feet.

I always enjoy a good de-throning. He earned it. And like many, I just don’t like Belal.

I mean, if you want to give him credit for glancing blows that did zero damage for 3 rounds while Jack beat the frick out of his face, go for it. But, it was pretty obvious that Belal wasn't hitting him hard, despite the unofficial numbers saying he was landing at the same rate.

Yea, JDM totally outclassed him on the feet. DC was doing that dumb shite saying Belal did something like he does in every fight when it wasn't that impactful.

DC and Rogan always do that shite. And it is why people get these weird opinions about how the fights play out. I know I have biases like we all do, but watching the fights with no audio is insane how much different your perspective on the fight was.

watching the fights on mute is the way to go.

the reality is that both of them are being told to lie and promote who the company wants so you're rarely going to get an honest opinion from either of them.

Happy for JDM.

Belal let all the boring talk get to him. Tried to beat JDM at JDM's own game. Lost.

Even though Khamzat has knocked guys out with one hit before, usually the first thing he does in a fight is shoot a takedown. Because he's a wrestler.

The grass is always greener. Belal wanted to win with his striking. Cost him his belt.

I feel like JDM will have a harder time getting up with Islam. Some great escapes vs. Belal, though, JDM was Houdini in the championship rounds. Escape artist.

I disagree. They are sitting ringside with one (bad) angle to view the fight and are trying to commentate in real time. The viewing audience has a fricking spider cam swinging around and zooming in and out and we see more than the people commentating.

But honestly, in the UFC judges shouldn't be a thing. No rounds and go until someone quits. If they are laying on each other, stand em up. Judging in UFC/MMA has always been fricked. I mean, every sport that has judging is weird, but at least the are judging on established rules and variables. MMA pays some lip service but they mostly just shrug and say, "This feels right..."

Yeah I think the bias commentary is being overblown. It definitely happens but not as often as people in this thread are saying. I think Joe and DC do a pretty solid job for the most part. The most egregious example of it happening was the Izzy-Jan fight where Rogan was making it sound like Jan was getting dominated which just wasn’t even close to the case and in fact Jan ended up winning unanimously. I think he holds Izzy in very high regard from when he took up for him when they tried to cancel Joe.

An athletic commission wouldn’t approve that anymore. That essentially how it was in 1993 when it first started and even before when Gene Lebell fought against Milo savage
