He was doing that before anyone knew who the hell he was. If I'm not mistaken during his Ultimate Fighter season he got a minor injury. So he just didn't go to the gym the next day and his team had fights. During fights they would show him at the house drinking beer, grilling, chilling on the couch watching TV.
After the fights when the teams got together the coach was like "who's missing". They figured it out but no one knew where he was. When they got back to the house he was asleep on the couch. Never told anyone he wasn't going to waste his time going to the gym to cheer on his team.
