Watching Dana’s post fight presser. Seems really obvious they gave Gane this “interim” shot vs Lewis, a guy he’s a terrible matchup for, so they could set up a massive unification bout in France between him and Ngannou and push the whole “French guys who were training partners”storyline. It’s mentioned several times how the UFC just got cleared to hold events in France and has tv rights over there now. Pretty genius move by Dana and he’s loving Gane pulling it out for him. He definitely has my money, can’t wait for that fight

Other tidbits:
-didn’t think Lewis folded under pressure, just thinks Cyril Gane is that good. Lots and lots of praise and hype for Gane saying he is now firmly on the map and is a freak athlete. Still considers Lewis one of the best in the world

-Brushed off Stipe when he was brought up, just said “yeah he’s in the mix somewhere”

-said nothing is going to happen with bones until 2022 so it’s just a wait and see until next year

-mentioned how great Aldo looked and Song Yadong and how It’s amazing that kids only 23 expects him to have a bright future

-said Leon Edwards probably needs another fight before title contention since he’s only fought twice in 2 years, also mentioned how exciting Luque is and he’s definitely in title contention

-was asked what’s going on with Women’s bantamweight (not sure the backstory on this don’t follow women’s divisions very closely), Dana laughed and said they’re going to get it figured out and that Juilanna Pena has been bothering him about fighting for an interim belt all week and it’s not going to happen but she’ll get a fight soon

-despite everyone in the thread saying the atmosphere seemed like a dud and it wasn’t packed, dana praised Houston and said it was another sellout and he’s excited to have more fights in texas and florida

-said he’s going on vacation after tonight and when he gets back going to Abu Dhabi to get more fights lined out there

Stipe is a dumbass for not retiring on top. By the time he gets a rematch he'll probably be 40. Good luck trying to regain the title at that age. They never liked him holding the belt and I'm sure when he regained against Cormier it back fired on them.
