but hes going to get rag dolled like all the other strikers khabib has faced
obviously there's always a sense of "this one is different" but the result is always the same with these guys that never lose like Khabib and Jones.
But Gaethje's wrestling background makes this interesting.
Like Mendez said, he's never used there it and using it for the first time in an actual fight against the best is a challenge.

I am sure it’s been asked, but when do y’all expect the Khabib fight? 3-4ish?

Gathje's wrestling background is the glimmer that may make this one different, but I would still put Khabib as the heavy favorite.

They're going to try to use the Al Iaquinta fight as the blueprint... Keep Khabib in the middle of the ring and don't let him get you to the fence. Problem is, even Iaquinta couldn't do it for the whole fight and eventually got caught.

Gathje's power and striking ability is also different. Whereas Connor is a precision puncher, Gaethje is just a brawler who will take a lick to give 2 more. He's just a different type of dude.

I think Gaethje wins this and I’m a khabib fan

He has awesome takedown defense, in addition to catch wrestling which resembles more like sambo, so I think he’ll be prepared for those Russian arm tie grips that Khabib uses a lot

Khabib is really going to have to use his mma iq to beat Justin

So pumped for this fight. I like both guys and can see a path to victory for either.

I want Justin to win, but until I see otherwise, I expect khabib to rag doll him. He abuses everybody at that weight on the ground. Hope I’m wrong.

The weigh ins are live right now. LINK

Khabib wax utterly relieved he made 155. For a split second I thought he missed it. He got down to his bare arse to weigh.

Gaethje looked like he had no issue making weight.

Yeah Justin looks more like a natural 155 these days. I bet he didn’t have a huge weight cut just like Cannonier

Kabib will look a lot heavier and time of the fight. I just realized how thick yet defined his torso is at the weight. All the years of Russian wrestling and Sambo will do that.

Not sure how he will do without his dad there:. But since he did a lot of wrestling training in Dagestan for this fight, I’m guessing it’ll be on point (best place in the world to train for wrestling)

khabib doesnt seem like a guy that would let shite get in his head. in his ufc career, his dad has only cornered one of his fights. who knows how it plays out but I think we are seeing the best version of both guys.

True but that doesn’t necessarily mean he spent a good mount of time training him. Because he did

I don’t think he let’s much get in his head either but it is different.

in other interesting mma news

tony ferguson continues to put his foot in his mouth and sort of accused dana of being racist against mexicans

leon edwards has been removed from the rankings. supposedly he turned down 3-4 fights.

He’s always been odd

I haven’t watched him fight much because of it

His incoherent post fight interview when he beat Anthony Pettis reminded me of the ultimate warrior: it was horrible

Was this before or after him and Khamzat said on Twitter they would fight?

Tony is so damn salty as if he should've been in talks to receive the next shot or been matched up with Conor or Dustin. He's the only guy in that mix coming off a loss. Weird he can't accept that.

He is the best option for the Chandler fight, though IMO.

He has gotten played a bad hand. Dude was on a ridiculous streak and fought for two interim titles. Regardless, playing games with Dana isn’t getting you back in a title shot. He deserves to fight any top contender based on his resume. I think a win against any of the top few guys puts him back in title contention especially if khabib wins. Dude is just crazy though.
