even with his jab, I doubt GSP will stand and exchange with Diaz for long. GSP better take him down early and often to win. Diaz can definitely win this fight.....

Diaz won't be able to keep GSP from driving him into the cage I think. He just won't be strong enough. It will take a guy that GSP just can't take down and can kick his arse standing to beat him consistantly. Of coarse their is always the flash K.O. or he could get a sub slapped on him from a lesser opponent.

gsp doesn't need to trade one bit.

theres no one in that division who can stop his takedowns on a consistent basis.

diaz sure as hell can't. and he'll go back down to lightweight or do boxing after this match.

it wont be pretty but its gonna be a wrestle clinic by gsp.

also agreed. I'm just saying that is what it would take to beat him

oh i didnt mean as a slam on ur post or anything.

i think some people are just dont realize that gsp isnt just an incredible fighter but perhaps he has the best athleticism in regards to power and conditioning.

so i just finished watching this post interview with nick diaz. my god this guy has done way more drugs that just weed. hes either spending his cash for his medicine a to the z, or his managers and trainers are getting a huge cut if he claims he isn't seeing the dough.

It really is a very interesting match up. There are multiple ways that I can see this fight going, with each fighter winning. I'm not sure GSP has grappled anyone with as slick of BJJ as Diaz. That sweep he pulled on BJ was sick. It's really been a long time since we've seen "Rush". Lately it's just been "GSP". Hopefully he has the motivation to perform and look like he did in his early UFC bouts, like against Hieron, Trigg, Sherk and Hughes 2.

Yeah, I'm not underestimating GSP's wrestling or genetics. I've thought since he arrived on the scene that's he's one of the most genetically gifted white boys ever :noracist: I think Diaz presents skills that differ greatly from GSP's previous opponents. It's clear his boxing skills can be considered next level for MMA. They aren't classically beautiful but unarguably effective. His ground skills are better than most. If he can hurt GSP before the slam fest takes over, I could see him stopping him or grabbing a sub. I think he's got the best shot of dethroning him and it's why I've wanted to see this fight more than any other for a while now. He's a complete nutcase but one of the best to watch fight. I don't think he's on anything other than weed but I do think he likely has some serious depressive/mental issues.

My opinion exactly. Everyone treated BJ as if he had the best BJJ in MMA other than maybe Maia, but I honestly think no one is better than Diaz especially in MMA. I don't think GSP will be able to lay and pray on Diaz for more than a couple rounds before Diaz finally catches him. Diaz started that sweep the second BJ started the takedown. It was a thing of beauty. I'm glad someone else on here noticed how badass it was. I think this fight is much more even than most people realize.

What about that fight makes you think Diaz has better BJJ then BJ? They went to the ground once and BJ dominated control position the entire time. Nick won that fight because BJ couldn't get him on the ground anymore, BJ wasn't as good with the hands, and BJ started gassing half way through the second fng round. lol.

Almost every time BJ has taken someone's back in his career, he gets the RNC. Nick didn't even look worried and quickly scrambled out of bad position. BJ could never get dominant position for very long without having to defend a sweep or sub attempt. Nick is so good off of his back that you could tell BJ was never comfortable on top like he is with pretty much anyone else he has fought. GSP is going to have a tough time trying to defend the same sweep and sub attempts especially for 5 rounds.

LoL..... No

BJ got the take down, Diaz instantly swept him. In the scramble BJ jumped on Diaz's back. Diaz instantly prevented BJ from getting both hooks in, after a few seconds Diaz got to his feet.

FWIW, Anderson Silva is ducking Chael Sonnen.

edit: Not to say it still won't happen.

Yea, the whole Anderson situation is strange. I know he's still hurt, but he doesn't seem to be overly anxious to fight Chael again. Guess we'll see how it plays out.

how the hell can Anderson duck Sonnen? This isn't boxing, Chael is the #1 contender, Dana, Fertita (sp?), and company need to make this happen. I can't understand why this fight hasn't been announced yet.

I don't remember Diaz ever fighting at 155. Lowest he's ever gotten was 160, when he beat Gomi.

Just clarifying that I didn't post anything about Nick fighting at 155. I don't remember it either.

You did agree with lsucoonass who said he'll have to go back to LW (which is 155), which he never fought at. Lowest he ever got was 160, like 2 times.
