I'm sure in his mind he feels betrayed.

How the frick can you feel betrayed? Its a business. Move weight classes if you dont want to fight your friend.

Main Card
Light Heavyweight Championship bout: Maurício Rua (c) vs. JON JONES
Bantamweight bout: URIJAH FABER vs. Eddie Wineland
Lightweight bout: JIM MILLER vs. Kamal Shalorus
Middleweight bout: NATE MARQUARDT vs. Dan Miller
Heavyweight bout: Mirko Filipovic vs. BRENDAN SCHAUB
Jones reminds me of Muhammad Ali. Makes everything look so easy. Also some of his unorthodox style and moves seem to create tentative action from his opponents. Someone better beat him soon, or expect to wait a long time. The icing to his day was his Good Samaritan act earlier in the day. He said, " I like to help people, it gives me strength." Expect this to be THE new training technique.

looking at it now Shogun quit while still on his feet. That left to the body and knee didn't even really connect Shogun was dead on his feet.

I just read this entire thread and not one person mentioned Rua's 3 knee surgeries. You think this might have something to do with him looking unprepared and no conditioing?
He looked like pure dog shite against Forrest and Coleman and didn't get back on track until Liddell. Then he had another knee surgery after Lyoto. This was his first fight back.
Saying all that, I think Jones wins again.
I think Rua might be a journeyman but will never be as good as he was in Pride. 29 years old and 3 major knee surgeries can't be good.

correct me if I'm wrong but I thought the 3rd surgery was just a scope.

I guess you can say I'm making excuses for him but like I said I think Jones wins 7 out of 10 fights with Rua. I just think an in-shape Shogun puts up a better fight.

also...his knee surgery was in June of 2010

This. I think jones can make alot of people look bad, but shogun looked like he was not ready for this one.

i've never seen rua take beating.
You must have missed his fight with Forrest Griffin. Forrest beat him down and then choked him out. Shogun is very, very inconsistent. He looked like crap tonight and Jones just murdered him.

Rua reinjured his knee right before this fight also. I'm wondering if he reinjured his knee again and just didn't tell anybody. If he did he might just want to hang it up. If it's not healing properly in his 20's it's definitely not going to get better in his 30's.

Did you see Shogun's last fight against Machida??
It does not matter. Machida might not have matched up well against Shogun but it does not mean he does not match up well with Jones. Not to mention the Shogun that showed up against Machida was not the one that showed up last night. I wouldn't be surprised if Evans handles Jones in the upcoming fight. He's has much more experience and trained with Jones so he knows his tendencies.

Rashad has literally 0 of the tools needed to defeat a wrestler with the length of jones. Jones is better in literally every area but knockout power.
