but the guys on the site are still pretty pro-barca, anti-madrid.

That's because Florentino Perez and his lackeys are acting like the Saudi Arabians and jus tthrowing money everywhere without developing their own style of the game. Barca has a distinct style of football that eveyone associates with them, Madrid... not so much.

But I will agree that La Liga is the best league out there

perez pisses me off frequently. the whole uproar over pellegrini after lyon pissed me off. just keep a coach more than a short stint.
i love that the players are behind the coach.
i started watching madrid for the eye candy and stayed b/c i fell in love with them.

I started following Barcelona in 2000 when i saw Rivaldo playing and I've become so ingrained in the culture of the Catalonia region that I haven't looked back once. That's part of the reason a hate Madrid so much is because of Francisco Franco and how much he loved Madrid

That's something you don't get with American sports so much, you don't have northern teams hating southern teams because of the civil war or something like that. But in Europe and the rest of the world, they have so much passion for their teams because of some historical event that happened decades or even centuried ago. So it's almost like a crash course in history or culture as much as it is a game. Just look at Celtic and Rangers in Scotland.

Celtic v Rangers is one of the best rivalries in all of sports. It embarrasses our American rivalries.

It also is an embarrassment to Scotland when people get killed in Glasgow over the Old Firm.

On a midterm that I failed today, I discussed the validity of a semiotic qualitative research of Celtic vs. Rangers.

Totally worth it.

yeah, i love how history plays such a huge part in madrid v barca. i haven't read up too much on it (i am a really new madrid fan, and no, not b/c of what the summer spending spree brought in)

and i how like everyone has multi rivals in la liga. like the madrid derby (f-ing atlteico, i hate them way more than barca. valencia (who i actually like watching also, but they've been pissing me off lately) and sevilla as well.

As I've learned more than once watching a match at a Dallas bar.

In my 5 years or so of watching a lot of soccer, a Celtic/Rangers game is definitely the best I've seen. It was just so intense, and I didn't know anything about the two teams prior to watching it.

Enjoy!

As for today I took off the rest of the day from work. Thank God Fabregas is hurt otherwise I don't think it would have been too pretty. Arsenal is a lot more dangerous then they were a few weeks ago with more players back. Just hope we can hold them off
