quote:From what I have seen U High isn't arguing they are eligible, only that the LHSAA didn't catch them and notify them until there were 9 days left in U High's season and the bylaws say that the LHSAA must notify teams at least 10 days from the end of the regular season. LHSAA will argue the language doesn't state the end of that teams regular season, but the end of the regular season which would have been Saturday, 10 days.
I’d personally like someone to explain how they are eligible in Uhighs interpretation

They set the brackets as if the complaint wasn’t made with caveat being that if the lose there hearing, then they will be removed from the bracket. It’s palatable bc Uhigh has a bye..

I read UHigh’s TRO. This is their position:
1. UHigh takes the position the two Liberty players are eligible. They explain UHS verification process and their admin used the EBR School Board's attendance zone map, which showed the two players resided in McKinleys attendance zone. They further noted that Liberty does not have an attendance zone noted on the school boards own map - I’m guessing because it’s a magnet school?
2. Liberty’s complaint and LHSAAs subsequent investigation and rulings are untimely in violation of the LHSAA rules - which does appear to be the case. They cite to the following statement in the rules themselves: “The purpose of this rule is to prevent disruption in the playoff season and to encourage member schools that are aware of possible violations to report the alleged violation in a timely manner…” Liberty clearly violated this rule.
3. There are two Liberty players at issue. However, 1 of the 2 players transferred in January of 2023 and played all of 2023 season. Liberty never complained about that player. UHigh takes position that player was eligible. However, in event he is ineligible, the one year time period for complaining about it has well passed.
LHSAA has yet to file its response. But taking what UHigh says as true, not sure how they violated any rules. If anyone violated the LHSAA rules, it was Liberty and the LHSAA.
