Ty Lue is assembling a pretty impressive coaching staff.

Can confirm that Heat assistant coach Dan Craig has left to take a job as an assistant coach with the LA Clippers, per source. Clippers offered more money and he hopes this becomes pathway to becoming head coach somewhere eventually, per source.

Here @flasportsbuzz of the Miami Herald confirms Dan Craig is Clipper-bound

The expectation in NBA coaching circles is that Kenny Atkinson and Chauncey Billups will also strike deals to join Ty Lue's first Clippers staff along with former Hawks/Bucks/Cavaliers coach Larry Drew

Craig was talked about for HC jobs this offseason and interviewed for several, he has been with the Heat his entire career. Considered to be Spoelstra's right hand and one of the brightest up and commers in the NBA.

That with Billups, Atkinson (another guy that it is shocking he didn't get a HC job), and Drew....

Balmer must be backing up that Brinks truck.

What does the fact that they hired 3 of the top 10 HC candidates to be assistants say about Ty Lue?

Nothing. Balmer is desperate to win and money is no object to him. He'd load up the assistants if he had Pop.

I'm not sure it says anything.

It sounds more like Balmer said to go out and put together the best staff money could buy.

I think it says Balmer feels he’s on the brink of finally having a championship team and he’s willing to spend to go all in. Not like he could change the players that much, so he’s doing everything possible to upgrade last year’s situation. I’m sure the fact that’s it’s basically come out that last years team had a bad culture probably eats him up.

That's all well and good for them. They're still going to have to make a decision as to whether they get rid of PG13, or some of the "others" that think he's highly overrated (Lemon Pepper Lou).

Bev and all them had lots of stuff to say about kawhi too.

Kawhi was living in san Diego all season and was late for the team plan multiple times. I can see Pat sitting on a plane for 30-40 min or whatever bc kawhi is taking his good ol time. Pat would be hot. He needs to just go ahead and tell the clips he wants to be traded back to his home.

What does it say that they didn't actually get a HC job?

Yeah and Doc had the nerve to call out Lebron when he’s pissing his own team off with different treatment for Kawhi and especially PG

Well Kawhi's not going anywhere, and he still backed it up on the court. They couldn't impugn his performance.

From the rumblings some of those guys don't even seem to think that PG13 is that good.
