Tulane isn't getting into the Big 12 or SEC with a 32k stadium that is half full.

There will be protests for sure. But, if they want it, it will be done. I am more worried about Tulane's administration blocking it than any other obstacle.

I'm assuming it probably has some type of opening that can be retractable...I think yall are thinking too big here. I really hope this is true for them. I also disagree with the ceiling being top 40-50...I think they can be a low ranked top 25 team in the good years and 30-40 in others with the right coach and decent facilities to recruit to.

So what

It isn't a zoning issue. Tulane owns the land. Was there an outcry about Turchin being built? No. If Tulane has the funds to do this it will get done.

Look I hope it happens, as I spent my childhood it the old stadium. My Dad had season tickets and I'm 51, so I do remember what it was like. Many great days were spent in that stadium. I just saying don't get your hopes up just yet.

They are in a talent-rich state but will always be second fiddle in it. If LSU gets the first tier of Louisiana players and Tulane gets the second tier than I see that as top 40 at best. Tulane doesn't have the national clout to really recruit national blue chip players. And if there ever was a chance for them to have a bit of sustained success (see Tommy Bowden) then the coach of that program is likely headed to bigger and better things. I just don't see how a 32k stadium changes what they have been. This wouldn't put them on par with the power players in the power conferences. AT BEST it puts them on par with schools like Louisville, Rutgers, etc.

Tulane would take that in a heartbeat.

Tulane owns the land ! So does anybody else that wants to build something on THEIR OWN LAND, they still need city approval and city building permits and thats where it will get bogged down.

My dad still does. It can be that again and if this gets through it will be. I am an LSU fan, yet both of my parents graduated from Tulane. I want to see Tulane succeed for NO's sake. I am 45 and want this to happen. If the Tulane Board and Administration want this it will go through.

I agree that they would. My argument is that Tulane football has a ceiling of about 40th. I've always felt that and historically they haven't really come close to reaching that. I think a 32k seat stadium is GREAT for Tulane but I'm just saying it doesn't drastically change things like some Wave fans may hope. They are who they are. Does a 32k seat stadium keep Tommy Bowden after the 98 season? Nope. Does it attract 4 and 5 star recruits away from the powerhouses? Nope. Does it attract a top flight coach? Perhaps for a few seasons before he gets a better gig. Does it get them into a power conference? Doubtful. I'm just trying to see how they become 'really big' from this.

Oh that's true. We all know how much Tulane needs the extra seating.

Right which is some top 25 finishes in the good years and around 30-40 in normal years. For a second tier program in a smaller state they'd take that in a heartbeat. If they can sustain that kind of program then they will get their share of the better NOLA recruits who want to remain closer to home.

I don't think they are trying to get really big. If they made an occasional appearance in the top-25 it would be enough. Add a bowl game every three years and Tulane would be happy as a monkey in a room full of bananas. It all will boil down to lowering admission standards for players and having majors like PE to graduate from. Also taking JC players.

Tulane doesn't harbor dreams of being UF, LSU or USC. But, in certain years when the talent is really good in LA they could snag some really good players.

pretty much spot on...I also think it would help them greatly if they had a coach with some local ties that wouldn't necessarily be in a hurry to bolt from NOLA.

They'd probably be in the NO bowl quite often similarly to Hawaii in the Hawaii bowl

frick the Dome. I am sure they would love it if Tulane never played another game there. Painting endzones and different hashline markers. The Superdome Commission would welcome this change.

I would thoroughly enjoy Tulane playing in the Tad Pad until the new stadium is built
