Truth bombs from Colin Cowherd: Who do the egomaniacal Warriors think they are?

quote:

Cowherd: The Warriors are becoming unbelievably unlikeable

“So the Golden State Warriors, their owner Joe Lacob… remember when he came out and said basically ‘we are just smarter than everybody else,’ you remember that? That was a bit much.

And then their head coach and their star talk about politics though we’ve never really asked for their opinion.

And then one of their star players, Draymond Green, routinely kicks people in the junk.

quote:

Cowherd: The Warriors are acting as if they're an elite franchise

“Who do the Warriors think they are?

The Lakers, since 1980, have 10 titles. Golden State, since 1976, has one.

You are not Manchester United. You’re not Ohio State football. You’re not woven into the tapestry of American sports. You were irrelevant for 25 years. You’re not the Lakers, you’re not the Yankees, you’re not the Red Sox.”

“The Warriors made the playoffs once in an 18-year stretch, and now you’re mad when you poached a player from another team that the other team didn’t thank the player when he first came back home? What?!

I mean you’ve had a little bit, a taste of brief success. A little taste of it. You have a title - which, for the record, you would not have won had Kyrie Irving not been injured for that Final, because they took you six [games] with LeBron and Matthew Dellavedova.

And suddenly you think you’re ‘old money,’ Warriors? Just because you can afford a yacht doesn’t mean you’re invited into the yacht club. I know it’s San Francisco, Silicon Valley and young money, congrats on creating more and more useless apps.”

His final point:
quote:

“Oh, but this tops all of it. Listen to this story this morning. The Warriors are furious about the inactivity from the Oklahoma City Thunder leading up to the first Kevin Durant return game. A league source told ESPN the Warriors thought somebody from Oklahoma City in the ownership or management should have addressed the media on Kevin Durant’s behalf to help ease the tension upon his return. ‘The feeling is that Durant should have been thanked.’

Now, hold on a second. If you dumped a girl and ran off with her best friend and got engaged, do you think the first time you bump back into her she’s looking for a high five? Is that what you’re saying?”

“But the ego and the entitlement that Golden State has is remarkable. You’ve been good for an hour. An hour! You’ve got one title because Kyrie Irving got hurt.

You poached a player, which is legal, you recruited a player. But then when that player goes back home, you really believe - this suburb team that wears skinny jeans, these millennials from Silicon Valley - you really believe that you poach a player and when you go back home you have a right to tell Oklahoma City how to treat that said player? Well get over yourself, Golden State. You better get over yourself, because if the Warriors didn’t exist today, the sports landscape wouldn’t miss them one bit.

Can you believe this? You steal a guy’s girlfriend, the next time you bump into each other [there’s] probably going to be a little animosity.”

The KD debacle has put me in a position to agree with people such as Cowherd and Stephen A Smith since it went down.

But this is perfectly summed up by Collin. New money franchise acting like they're the Lakers. Except I doubt the Lakers would ever say something so stupid.

A frickING MEN TO ALL OF THAT HOLY shite. I normally semi-dismiss what he says, but this shite is so damn spot on.

Nothing worse than a dumbass who thinks he's smart. In some variation this is what I mean

The Warriors live in the Bay Area bubble and it makes them act the way they do. They're the worst. You'd think KD was the first player to ever go back and play his old team.

So who with the warriors said something about the way Durant was treated?

quote:

"I don't agree," Kerr said. "[Thunder GM] Sam Presti's a friend of mine. I know [Thunder chairman] Clay Bennett, it's a class organization all the way. So I don't really pay any attention to a story like that unless there's an actual name that's put on, so, I assume it's just sources? Sources? So I don't know who that is. It's nobody with the Warriors. So, we have great respect for the Thunder. Sam's been a friend of mine forever. They're first class, so I don't know where that comes from."

Kerr came out earlier today and said the report was BS iirc. Said he didn't agree with it.

Damn. Now I'm either with Boom or Cowherd. God help me, I'm with Boom here.

You can be on the fact finding side or the snowflake (OKC side) side.

The only thing he said with any substance that people could rightfully be upset about, but it is old news.

Everything else is typical Cowherd hyperbole or strawman rhetoric.

Kerr put his name on it. I'll take that over random sources saying feelings were hurt.

Kerr and team didn't act like it was a big deal at the time and aren't acting like it now.
