Question: if you were forced to line one of the two up at DE for an entire game, whose chances at success would you like better?

this is one of the most ridiculous questions ever asked on this website

if you were to line either up at CB, which would you choose? OOOOOH, OWNED

and fwiw, reed is an accomplished punt blocker

To me, TP possesses the kind of universal applicability

except in pass coverage

quote:

See how fast he can cover the field, adjust to the offense, change positions and scare the hell out of the offense

Reed does this

Reed takes away 1/2 of the passing field

I'd expect a FS to have better pass defense stats,

reed isn't exactly behind in tackles

Is my point really that hard to understand? Guess so.

How many times has he lined up at NT? He's a great player indeed but this going a little to far.

Reed has 496 tackles in 128 games. TP has 516 in 107, so yes he is behind in tackles. Even with playing 21 more games.

it's a 16 game disparity...they were drafted a year apart...injuries are part of the game...in fact ed reed leads polamalu in solo tackles...Troy p. racks up alot of assists.

and it's not that far behind...

you're just a fricking homer, you bring nothing to this conversation.

far behind would be 1,400 return yards to 400...54 ints to 27...that's far behind

no shite sherlock, but it's hard to record tackles when you're on the sideline in a street clothes

Considering Troy makes anywhere from 65-95 tackles when playing a full season, yes it is far behind.

BOOM you got me. I bring logical points, which you don't.

I've already admitted Reed is the better pass defender.

ed reed >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Troy Pol.

i think it's arguable. I love both of them, but Troy P is the epitome of "ball hawk" and he just seems to possess this magic quality to move to the ball faster than he should be allowed to run. He also likes to hit and stop the run when needed.

As the best I've ever seen. His shocking, bounding quickness, lightning reflexes and instinct are unmatched in any defender in the league, and his ability to play pretty much any position on defense is rare and infinitely impressive

Troy is a great safety who does seem to always be around the ball, but you tend to exagerate especially when saying he can line up at any position

When has he ever done this? He is just a safety the Dick Lebeau likes to bring up to the line of scrimmage frequently.

I guarentee you troy would not hold up playing corner or LB

ok...we'll try it this way

Troy P. averages 4.8 tackles per game
Ed Reed averages 3.9 tackles per game

not really far behind

Ed Reed averages .421 INTs per game
Troy P. averages .25 Ints per game

that's far behind. Interceptions and Touchdowns are often more valuable than tackles and net turnovers has an incredibly high correlation to winning and losing.

8 touchdowns to 3 is far behind

Furthermore, the 21 games that Troy P. missed is an opportunity cost. 21 games he could have been there to make a difference, do something special...and he could not. Ed Reed has missed fewer games in more opportunities...so you saying that he is on the bench unable to accumulate stats...thats the point...another reason ed reed is superior.

Moreover, you pointing out Troy's injuries and how the steelers performed does not establish a correlation (at least a significant one)or causality. It's the NFL...the same team that won the super bowl the prior year can miss the playoffs even if they are healthy...maybe Troy P. is the reason, but you can't prove it. You can not differentiate between causation and coincidence...

Ed Reed is the superior player

that kind of speech sounds great, but this means nothing...it is a way for people to make a player or person better than they are...there is no magic...there is no "ball hawk" he is a great player, but of a lesser caliber than Ed Reed

i hate lebron

OK, simple question. How shitty is Pittsburgh's D without Troy P? He is a huge difference maker in so many ways.

During the last two seasons, the Steelers are 14-4 when Polamalu plays but 5-7 when he doesn't. I guess it's just a coinicidence?
