There is no way Jimmy is benched if he has the team sitting at 10-3.......

Pretty sure the 49ers were like 8-1 when Alex Smith got benched. There was an injury involved, but he didn’t get his job back. If the team is 10-3, I can almost guarantee it’s not because of Jimmy.

Shanahan has been around football nearly all his life, with lots of success. I’ll give him the benefit of doubt.
The downvotes on this post are sad

The # and diversity of QBs he’s gotten quality offense out of in his career so far is insane.

It’s a huge gamble but the sample size is such that the default take should be Lance will be reasonable.

I don’t think anyone questions KS’s ability, but he’s not beyond questioning because “he’s been around football all his life”. That could describe nearly every coach

It’s the first he really has been able to really pick his own QB.

This always happens when a successful new qb comes along, everyone wants their version of them. Peyton/Tom led to guys like Ryan/Rivers/Schaub/etc. Ben led to guys like Flacco/Cam/Freeman. Rodgers led to guys like Baker/Jimmy/Manziel. Now we have Mahomes leading to Jordan Love and Trey Lance while Lamar Jackson is leading to Kyler Murray and Justin Fields.
