I worry about oversaturation of the product, in addition to the fact that the NFL isn't exactly a beacon of institutional integrity anymore (if it ever was).
I feel like it's gotten to a point, at least with me, where I only have so much time in the weekend to devote to football, and I prefer to devote that time to college ball. I have a wife and a child, so I can't just plop myself on the couch on Saturday and then do it again on Sunday. I've got stuff to do around the house and only a limited window for football, and I'd hazard a guess that most non-single men are in that same situation.
Plus, my main obstacle to becoming a huge NFL fan is this -- you're really just rooting for a billion dollar corporation to beat a different billion dollar corporation. In essence, you're rooting for a billionaire and his team of millionaires, the latter of which really don't have any particular allegiance to that city or team aside from a paycheck.
College is different because it's more provincial, and you have a different sort of pride in a school because you went there or your relative went there or because it's been an institution for 150+ years. Not only did I attend Arkansas, but I'm fairly certain the Razorbacks are never moving to L.A. because they're getting a better deal from the city on new facilities. The politics of the NFL are enough to cause my fandom to dwindle.
all of this

I had no interest in August. I have no interest now.

Low to medium. Unchanged. I haven't watched a non-Saints NFL game in a long time. I don't think I even watched the Thanksgiving Day games last year.
I know I'm biased, but ever since the Bountygate season I've had a hard time getting invested in NFL football. I'd much rather watch college football.

These people are so big, so fast, and the game is inherently dangerous. At some point, someone is going to die on the field, and I think you'll see the average fan just bail.
Similar to baseball with the pitchers mound, and at some point chance is just not in your favour.

Yup, it's spot on
But I stopped watching college, and now the NFL sucks so bad, I'm back to college and don't watch NFL

I love college football more than anything. I watch college football replays on Sunday over NFL games.

It's true. I watched one quarter last week and that was after making an effort.
I haven't missed a bama or lsu game. Tulane goes off the moment I start to feel inconsolable rage.

I'm not bitching about it. I haven't bitched about it even once here. It is what it is. There was an interesting article in the wsj talking about it. I'm just curious where everyone else is...because there isn't a lot of nfl traffic here

Was Yay at the beginning of the year, now meh now that hockey season has started. Pace of NFL games is entirely too slow - take last sundays saints game, 3.75 hours for one game because of all the damn penalties. It's ridiculous.

Well college is weird. I watch a game that looks like it has defense but the scores are pretty high, but the flow is better. I don't mind commercials, it just has a better flow and running backs and special teams make it more interesting
The end of the Michigan/Michigan state game, lsu over Florida with a trick play, Florida punt return against lsu
Elliot
Taylor
Fournette
Henry
So many awesome running backs. The American conference is good too, except for Tulane

College games are just as long but it doesn't seem that way

I'm not the one that said you were bitching broham.
Again, you tell us over and over you don't like the NFL and refuse to watch it yet you are compelled to talk about the NFL all the time.
Seems odd is all.
It reminds me of a rom com where it starts off w/the protagonist saying how much she/he hates this person they are forced to interact w/and by the end of the movie they are madly in love and on the way to getting married.

I asked for other people's opinion, without any bias
God forbid I piggyback on someone's post 3 pages in and add my own opinion.
Some people like Harley Davidson crotch rockets and cheap Steinway pianos...and female ghostbusters
I just want to know how others feel.

quote:interesting analogy, but it's more like finding out your spouse of 30 years is sleeping with someone the exact opposite of you...you go through the stages and finally don't give a shite about her other than the occasional gossip

8/10 interest level in August. Unchanged.
Will ratchet up to a 9 or 10 in the playoffs.
