1. Petrino. completely balanced, pro-style offense. he coaches up QBs on the back of a big-time running game.

2. Dana Holgerson. Mixes the spread and spread option in an amazing fashion. he's like a more mature version of mike leach (on the field, at least)

3. Chip Kelly. kind of a 2-3 trick pony, but when he's in the zone, nobody's stopping him. prone to change his gameplan and get away from his bread and butter, which puts his team in a hole often

4. Bryan Harsin. like an upper-middle class man's bobby petrino. pro-style offense with lots of looks/motion. based around a running game and lots of play action.

5. Gus Malzhan. let's see how his offense responds without the best player in CFB. a major fall pushes him off the list

explain. I know he's had some interesting backfield looks with multiple backs, but didn't realize there was option involved.

the "lets not block Nick Fairley" move in the biggest game of his life was pretty smooth

i got into this last year in a big way, so i'll change it to "spread and zone-read" to avoid argument

If I had Cam Newton, I'd look like a offensive genius too.

If we were able to shut down his offense with a defense that couldn't stop the run and had almost zero pass rush back in 2009, then wouldn't you be questioning Malzahn as well?

You realize Malzahn was kicking arse pre-Newton too, right?

Especially, if you look at what that '09 offense was able to accomplish compared to the abortion they fielded the year before with basically the exact same personnel.
