We don't get to hear JP Bitterman broadcasting like a lunatic for an Acadiana vs. STM playoff game.

Peak Bitterman was 2009 Catholic-Acadiana game. I’ve never heard anyone melt down on air like that before. Acadiana blew a big lead in the second half and as an Acadiana fan I thought it was entertaining AF. I could about imagine how a fan of another team felt

1. STM (beat Catholic head to head. When...what the score was...doesn't matter)

2. Catholic Beat 4 of the top 10 teams in the state (Brother Martin, Rummel, Byrd, Acadiana) Played two more and only lost by 4 points combined.

3. Acadiana (only loss to catholic)

4. Carencro (didn't beat enough big teams to be higher and lost to STM by more than Catholic)

5. Rummel (truth be told, the qfinal game with Catholic was de facto D1 State title game. And it was a doozy)

The majority of the parochial schools did not want the split and have been fighting to reverse it.

If they played now I think Catholic would win, it seems like they peaked in the playoffs while STM struggled a bit with teams they should have blown out. Also, the regular season game was only a one point difference, but it’s all hypotheticals

I don’t know why you are fighting this crusade for the publics when they wanted the split BECAUSE they said the private schools had an ADVANTAGE. The logic doesn’t add up. D1 is the best teams, deal with it. CHS beat the 5A champs 3 out of the past 4 years.

I would vote St. Thomas More first regardless of classification. My DeLaSalle Cavaliers have been having great regular seasons, but they always seem to get matched up with one buzz saw in the playoffs.

If that is your criteria and you have STM as #1, then you would have to put DLS in the top 5.

You have a valid point. If I would have seen DLS play more games they could definitely have been in the mix. Like I said it's not science, but merely a great conversation.

He’s just stating a fact that it’s strange STM couldn’t win state before the split. Same with Catholic. FACTS that you can’t seem to admit. It’s a watered down playoffs now
I don’t see how it’s strange at all

I don’t know what a completely different group of kids and coaches have today. Parkview dominated before the split, now they suck

West Monroe was a machine, now they are completely average. In 7 years, some high school programs will get better and some will get worse. Hell, watch out for ASH moving forward with Bachman

This is my take as well. Programs are always rising and falling. Ruston, Neville and Haynesville were powerhouses before the split and now while very good have given way to others.

I’m willing to bet that they don’t get back to the final in the next 5 years

Not that they’re not good, but they need to take over that district in the regular season and beat WM and Ruston. The whole season it was Acadiana and then everyone else in that division, but you can’t keep on coming out of that pack when you’re everyone else

The split is a joke no matter if you are on the select or non-select side. Both brackets are watered down and much easier to win than if they were combined. I would almost be willing to bet that Acadiana would beat Catholic if they played again. If they played 10 times I would say 6-4 Acadiana. I’m very aware of how and why the split happened. Still doesn’t change the fact that both are watered down.

The Acadiana area is indeed showing out. Lots of good coaching and players. Kudos to all these schools.
