Top 30 QBs of All-Time by Draconian Sanctions

comes down to more quality seasons for Manning
AKA played in a more QB friendly era.
If Peyton and Montana were QBing teams of equal talent against each other with your life in the balance, whose team are you choosing
I'd Montana required to throw the ball over 20 yards down field? If so it's Peyton all day.

Well Montana and Manning did play with relatively equal talent majority of their careers and Montana won more Super Bowls so what does that tell you?

Great list of names. Changes I would make:
1. Namath out. He wasn't all that good. He gets a lot of recognition for beating the Colts in the superbowl. A superbowl, Bubba Smith went to his grave saying the fix was on and I concur. Namath just wasn't a top tier qb.
2. Manning is one of the most overrated qb's of all time. It boils down to stats/schmatts. I would take Montana over him any day of the week.
Neither of these changes are a knock on your list. List being subjective, my changes are my opinions only.

Unitas, Manning and Brady played at a high level for more than twice as long as Staubach. Longevity is important to me.
Nothing Roger could do. He had to fulfill his Naval duty. That and Landry was hard headed. No way Morton should have played ahead of Roger vs the Colts in the superbowl. Landry knew it too.

kajunman,
1 thing I learned from this list is that people have strong opinions about Peyton. Appreciate the comments.

If Bert Jones could have stayed healthy, that list would look much different. Bert had it all.

I always hear the same thing about Greg Cook.

Yep, Bert Jones was #75. Two great seasons and a really fine third one wasn’t enough to warrant top 50. If it wasn’t for injuries... who knows how far he could have gone.

Yea, Greg Cook is an interesting one. 1969 AFL ROY. Docs didn’t treat his shoulder injury very well and he became a one hit wonder.

I don't think they really knew how to fix a torn rotator cuff back then. Cook was a tremendous talent on a team where Bill Walsh was on staff and would be promoted to OC in the coming years. Could have provided a very interesting challenge for the Steel Curtain.

I have a trump card for ya about Montana.... he played in four..... and has zero int’s..... and he won his first SB with less than a supporting cast than Brady has seen.....

Prime Walsh vs Prime BB would have been epic. I know who I got.

That prime 84 or 89 SF team would blow Out any SB coached NE team.......

So you must have Matt Ryan #1 right?
Matt Ryan hasn't played in 45 playoff games. Brady has.

The 84 team was flat out nasty on defense.

I don't think anyone would have blown out the 2004 Patriots on a neutral field. That is probably the most underrated team in the last 30 years of the NFL. They were amazing on defense, Brady was coming into his own, and Corey Dillon was a 1600 yard RB. They went 14-2. One loss was at Pittsburgh, who went 15-1. The Patriots blew them out in Pittsburgh in the AFCCG. The second loss was a late season 1 point loss in Miami, where New England has always struggled in November and December.
I don't know if they would have beaten the 49ers, but it would not have been a blowout.

I'd make an argument that the '89 San Francisco 49ers were the greatest team in NFL history. That team was super talented on both offense and defense, they had eight players on the roster make the AP All-Pro team that season, and their playoff run was the absolute definition of dominance. And that Super Bowl performance against the Broncos remains the most lopsided in the game's history. 55-10. It's absolutely incredible how good that team was.

Hard to argue against them. There is a good case to be made for the 1991 Redskins and the 1998 Broncos as well.

That team was really really good. But so wad that 84 team.... the playoff run they sad was unreal.... they shite out a very very good Bears team in the NFC game. And then they destroyed one of the best offenses in the history of football......
