course is playing too soft

Just don't water it tonight, roll the greens a couple times, make the pins harder and it could be a tough Sunday.

You may be right, but a course that needs everything to go perfect to punish is borderline us open quality. Don't misunderstand, course is hard but not elite.

Remember when Payne Stewart won in 99. It was a soft course and rained the final round. He shot -1 for the week, the frickin week! Pinehurst No2

The leading score at Oakmont thru 54 was 203. The leading score here through 54 is 205.

Par is a stupid number.

This course is legit.

Bottom line is the players all love the course and the USGA loves it and wants a midwestern course in the rotation.

Whether you like it or not, Erin Hills will most likely be in the rotation every 10-15 years. They can learn from this and tweak the course for next go around. They obviously got too conservative in the setup because they didn't know what they would get out of it.

This tournament is awesome. People need to stop complaining about the scores. Good play gets rewarded, bad play gets penalized.

This is the most players under par in the US Open. In the third rd a guy shot 63 and another 65 today . When was the last time that has happened? This course is not legit.

You really think having 30 something players under par is us open material? Ok!

Aggregate score matters more than par.

They could have moved the tees up and called 2 par 5s par 4s like they normally do but that's not the way this course was designed to play.

The scores are not any lower than classic par 70 us opens.

Yep, dump 2 par 5s and the leader is only 3 or 4 under

The US Open should be won at 280

That's par on a 70. On a 72 it's 8 under.

When Arnie won at Cherry Hills before the round he asked doesn't 280 always win the open? Before his comeback. That was 4 under there. The point is 280 is the target.

Par is some bullshite that didn't exist when major Championship golf began

They've said this about the course since it opened and during the Women's AM. It's actually how a golf course is supposed to be designed.

279

That's -9 here.

Kaymer shot 271 on the same course you love playing firm and fast. That's 17 under here.

Par is irrelevant

If the USGA wanted a bloodbath they could have concerted this to a 70 kept the rough longer and narrowed the fairways and speed up the greens and Double digits over would win

The course is excellent

I actually agree about par, but it's still playing too soft
