I am glad to see a HC fight for his players like that. Targeting is another disgrace to college football. To actually review these plays and watch everything in such a small microscope is pathetic.

I get how both of those were targeting by rule but the defender was in a tough spot in each.

I thought the play or two before where the CB launched 3 yards out of bounds, 1 foot up in the air and lowered his head was more of targeting than that awful call

That was awful. Targeting needs to be revisited in a major way in the offseason. I think officials need to be smart enough to judge intent. The first one, the guy deserved to be ejected. That shouldn't even have been a foul, but if you're going to call it one, it shouldn't result in an ejection. It's just so shitty.

The vast majority of of targeting calls in college football are bad luck. None of these are actually dangerous, egregious, dirty plays
