Monday, January 9, 7:00 PM on ESPN
Raymond James Stadium, Tampa, Florida

No. 2 Clemson @ No. 1 Alabama

No. 1 ACC vs. No. 1 SEC

All-time series: Alabama leads 13-3.

Current streak: Tide 13 wins in a row. Clemson won first three meetings from 1900-1905.

National Championships: Alabama 15 Clemson 1

Wins all time: Alabama 878 Clemson 716

Only way I see Clemson winning, aside from very unusual circumstances, is if Lane Kiffin does not feed Scarborough at least 20-25 times. Alabama should be able to run the ball in between the tackles and need to avoid becoming too cute. Both defenses are legit.

Prediction: Alabama 23 Clemson 20

Clemson blowing out Bama or a close 23-20 Clemson win.

well this is very possible.

Alabama can not play their typical game and win this game. What I mean by that is, potatoing around offensively in the first half to soften up the defense. Clemson has too many good athletes on defense for Alabama to play from a deep hole and be able to win the game.

The Alabama defense can make an argument for being the best ever. Dispute that all you want, but the stats back it up in an offensive age of football like we've never seen. They're fricking savages. That said, they're vulnerable to the scripted plays and usually take a series or two to settle in and clamp down. A 17-0 hole to Clemson could be insurmountable though.

Watson torched us last year, I don't expect the same type of performance from him. Kirby Smart has been pretty bad his entire career in regards to game planning against a true dual threat quarterback. Jeremy Pruitt is one of the best in the business at this.

All that said:
For Clemson to win- jump out to a big early lead. Score points early on bama before they settle into the game and adjust to what you're doing

For bama to win- just weather the storm. A 7-10 point game either way at the half bodes well for Alabama. The defense will settle in and eventually Alabama will be able to run the ball.

prediction- 27-24 bama

this will not happen, get the frick out of here. Saban has never been blown out at Alabama , he's not about to do it with the best defense he's ever had

I was being sensational on purpose, but I truly believe Clemson has a decent chance to "blowout" Bama this year. By "blowout" I mean win by 14 or more points like when Utah beat them years ago.

Watch. Bama offense will struggle. Watson and co will hang 30+ on them. Final score will be similar to Utah game.

Must win the red zone. Must score at least 20 points IMO to win and must score TDs when in the scoring zone.

Win the line of scrimmage on offense. Defense will do their thing, but they need 150-175 yards rushing to keep their dink and dunk passing attack worthwhile and to stay balanced.

Bama is believing it's press clippings and is more smug and arrogant than ever...it is a recipe for a total as whooping...
Clemson wants it more...
