Already purchased, yet to start reading it though, but Jeff Pearlman's Three-Ring Circus: Kobe, Shaq, Phil, and the Crazy Years of the Lakers Dynasty is out today

Pearlman can really do no wrong with is writing. His books on the 86 Mets, the Dallas Cowboys of the 90s, Showtime Lakers, the USFL, Barry Bonds and Walter Payton were all solid, entertaining reads

Yeah, I saw that article, but figured there was no point reading that whole thing if I'm going to read the book. I did see the excerpt on the fight though

I remember Phil explaining one time why he preferred Shaq over Kobe. When Phil would instruct Shaq to do something he did not want to do, Shaq would bitch and complain about it but do it. When Phil instructed Kobe to do something, Kobe would agree to do it and then proceed to ignore Phil's instructions and do whatever he wanted to do out on the court.

That’s selfish
People will probably point to his ‘mamba mentality’ when discussing that, but I would HATE to have that problem as a coach. Can’t have that on a team

2006 playoffs game 7 vs Suns. Kobe gave up in the second half after the Lakers got down big by halftime.
