Could be that, or a few other reasons on a case by case basis.
-They "check out" because they know they are transferring and don't work as hard.
-They don't feel the need to work as hard because they are already a millionaire
-Jealousy of other guys on the roster paid more
I'm sure people could list a bunch more.

Well you would think it would have the opposite effect, if I'm a prospective NFL guy personally I would bust more arse on and off the field because I still have made some money to fall back on even if I were to get an injury.
