Small play on Milos at +155.

I rarely play the fillies, but I had every intention of throwing down on Kerber at an exceedingly reasonable -210 (iirc)...but then I just caught up in something else and forgot. Oh well.

Serena -315 is tempting

I'm gonna go with Milos at 7/1 outright, and look to do a partial hedge in the final. Remember he got hurt late in the 4th set while up 2 sets to 1 on Murray in the AO. He's definitely capable of winning these two matches on grass.

Serena isn't losing to Kerber again.

How is the second sentence related to the first? You get slower with age; you don't get less accurate on your serve. If you're gonna prop up Fed, do so in a way that makes sense.

Those were two completely different points, not meant to suggest that the first is a related specifically to the second, but since you wanted to argue it, I would take 27 year old Fed serving over 34 year old Fed. Not looking at data, but all things being equal, I'd say 27 is solid prime for a tennis pro, and probably more guys on the ATP get more free points off the serve at 27 than 34.

Actually a quick look at the stats - take 2015 Fed 597 Aces/125 DF vs 2008 Fed 695 Aces/77 DF. So perhaps age is relative, though I was not relating that specifically to his serving, but rather the remarkable nature of the 34 year old outlasting the significantly younger player in a long match.

(I took 2008 to get a 27 year old Fed, and took 2015 over 2016 because of a paucity of data for 2016)

One of my favorite things on TD is angry MV responding to like ten tennis thread posts in a row after being off the board for a day or two.

The masses are split on this and whether the larger frame helped. IMO, larger frame and older Fed definitely has a better backhand. The serve is a wash, though I can understand the perception that the larger frame gave it a boost in his old age. He sprays the forehand more now than ever, though that may not all be the fault of the stick.

Lol that pissed me off at first when he would quote a couple paragraphs and go "No", but I got used to it.

Big man's serve is way off today. Come on Milos. Trust your shots.

Fed had two break points to ice this thing. I hope it doesn't cost him.

I am watching via stream on Roku (watch ESPN) - I'm getting BBC feed with McEnroe having the commentary. Great insight as always with him, but even more interesting given his current relationship with Milos.

This is over. Milos can't hit any spots with his serve, so he's giving up and hitting bombs at the body. Fed is dialed in.

Fed definitely looks more dialed in, but if Milos can get this to a breaker, he could have a shot.
