Chengdu Open draw
Shenzhen Open Draw

I missed a deadline last month in Fantasy Tennis (which effectively killed my season) and I’m only now realizing how difficult it can be to care about these events.
Then again, sports betting is still a thing and me being a degen will always be a thing.
Mattek-Sands/Hsieh at +120 is extremely bangable. Possibly the two best female doubles players playing together at plus money? Thanks.

My fantasy team has these players:
Cilic
Raonic
Alex Zverev
Tiafoe
Daniil Medvedev
Shapovalov
Teetsy
De Minaur
Benny Paire
Which 5 would you start? This is the trickiest lineup decision I've made all season.
I have my five in mind, but now I'm second guessing myself

I guess my reply is probably too late, but it’s ok because I have no info that would have done you any good.
Thats a hell of a shitty draw for your roster. Aside from Cilic, Zverev, and Teets, I just don’t know. It would help to know the scoring system too. As in... is it better to have 5 guys win exactly 2 rounds, or a bunch of first-round exits but 1 tourney winner.
Absent this info, I would probably go Tiafoe and Raonic. That way you have all 4 quarters covered. Tiafoe can definitely beat Thiem in the 2nd and whoever in the 3rd.
ETA: This was posted before I saw that Tiafoe was about to win the first set, so I wasn’t cheating.

Rublev doing Rublev things. If this guy doesn’t have the worst 2nd serve on tour, I don’t know who does.

Me: “Hmm Simon vs. Cecchinato on a super fast court. Maybe with this being the slow part of the tennis season I’ll be able to catch a good deal like -150 or something on Simon. After all, he’s ranked 10 spots lower.”
[Checks odds and sees Simon -400]
Also me: “What in the F’n world?”
These oddsmakers are playing 4D Chess apparently.

Yeah, I guess it is too late now. At least to play Tiafoe. I hadn't started him because he's screwed me in the past and I just wanted to stay away, even though he had the better draw vis a vis guys I like more.
I kinda want Tiafoe to lose now, to make myself feel better.

A super shitty draw, right? This happens in these masters events, but this is the worst I've seen. I have no great options.
Scoring for masters events:
Win 6
Final 5
Semi 4
Quarter 3
Round 16 2
Round of 32 1
Round of 64 0.5
Round of 128 0
Here is who I had already gone with. I think I could change anybody that hasn't played and nobody would care.
Daniil
Cilic
Zverev
Tsitsipas
Shapovalov
Cilic and Zverev are no -brainers. You almost have to go with somebody who has a bye unless the circumstances are extreme.
Tsitsipas makes sense too. Monfils is hardly in top form -- though, tot be fair, neither is teetsy -- and so i have to favor Teetsy in that one. If he gets Karen in round 2, that's no gimme, but just hope for the best. He actually beat Karen last year in Shanghai.
Daniil is coming in in really good form. He is 25-3 in his last 28 matches, all of which were on a hard court. I don't think he even dropped a set winning Tokyo, and he beat Kei in the final, which is no joke. Correction: he DESTROYED Kei, which is no joke. He also beat Raonic, and so I have no reason to believe that Raonic would beat him if they played again. The problem, of course, is that Daniil plays Fed in the second round. I just had a hunch he might rise to the occasion and went with it.
Basically my rationale on Daniil was that Raonic wasn't going to beat Fed in the third round, but there's a chance Daniil could beat him in the second, and if he does, he'll likely advance two more rounds. So, it was either take 2 points and only two points from Raonic or take a chance on more from Daniil with the downside being I might just get one point.
As noted, there's a bias towards taking Alex because of the bye, but then the problem becomes that Shapov and De Minaur are his probable second and third round matches. This is tricky. Do I took both, none, or one? if one, which one? I went with Shapov because he gets Zverev in the second round, and so if Zverev takes in early L, at least I have somebody still in the draw. Also, I don't think De Minaur can take out Zverev given the results of their last match. Also, just generally, I'm not as bullish on De Minaur in an inddor setting. That could be flawed logic, but I had to make a call.
If De Minaur beats either Shapov or Zverev and comes out of there, I would be pissed.

It's a competitive market out there.
I might actually consider fading Simon at those odds.

Tiafoe is in serious trouble now. This will make me feel a lot better, as noted above.

Medvedev loves him some fast courts, which is odd for a 6’6 lanky dude without a dominant serve. My initial thoughts were, “just won Tokyo... Fed in 2nd round... nope” but you kinda convinced me that it makes sense. After a layoff, this is not the kinda player Fed wants to see. And like you said, better to catch him in his first match back.
You’re splitting hairs with any decision with that draw though. I wouldn’t even be surprised if your whole team except Cilic was out before the quarters.
Do you get bonus points for players under 21?

No, I wish it was a keeper league...I'd be sitting on a gold mine.
First place is probably a done deal at this point and it isn't me. First place gets 75% of the pot and 2nd place gets 25%. It's between me and my brother for second place as we are literally dead even after four majors and 7 masters. It helps me tremendously that he has Rafa and Rafa isn't playing this tournament (and hopefully not paris either), but if I don't capitalize with some points I'll be squandering the opportunity.
I didn't have the best draft. I was hungover, and normally that wouldn't have mattered as we used to do it leisurely over the period of however many days via text. This year, because we had more owners than in previous years, my brother got all fascist with the draft and made us do it all at once. There was no advance notice of this, so here I am all hungover and falling asleep between picks trying to piece together a decent draft. Not my best effort.
But I made some excellent waiver wire moves throughout the season (teetsy being the best example), and so my team is actually way deeper than anybody else, but not as beastly at the top.

I should get two guys in the quarters. Like I said before, if De Minaur makes it to the quarters, I will be in something close to a full-blown rage. Having four guys in the same quarter is ridiculously terrible luck, but I should at least get one guy in the semis (again, if ti's the guy I didn't start, I will not be putting off positive midnight vibes).

Teetsy broke, but then got broken right back. 4-3 Monfils with ST serving.

Milos and Tiafoe are making me look smart so far.

Good thing because you don’t know anything about college football
Those crazy Simon odds made me look bad, but also saved me some money.
I’m going through Twitter and there’s some clip about Kyrgios toying with Klahn. I check the final score and sure enough... loss.
He’s the perfect representative for Millenials in general. He lost but his clip got 20K Likes, so it was a good day.
Some guy mentioned that his girlfriend also lost in the 1st round, and that might explain his tank. No idea if there’s any correlation, but that would be a nice under-the-radar angle if true.
