Tiafoe-Raonic coming up. Pretty good odds (+275) for Tiafoe as a #41 v #29.

I tossed Raonic in a parlay with Djoke and Alex when he was at -290 (and djoke was at -1200....I think he closed at -1900. and alex was at -900 (not sure where that closed, but definitely a larger number than 900)). Anyway, I'm generally the guy warning peeps to stay away from tennis parlays at all costs, and yet I was pretty pleased with the value I got on that one. Risked 105 to win 65.

And then Dogtrash drops the first set. FML.

Teetsy was free money just sitting right there on the table, and I didn't grab it. I'm always a little more gun shy on guys who are in my fantasy lineup because I feel like I'm double dipping with them or something. This is of course a ridiculous way of looking at it. We all pay $150 entry fee for a year long fantasy tennis season; it really isn't a big deal if I don't win the league.

I'm gonna go punch myself in the face like teetsy.

I live in DC*, and it has been the most miserable summer weather-wise that i have ever been a part of, and by a comfortable comfortable margin. I mean, DC is actually a swamp, but this has been the swampiest I've ever know it to be. It's like gotten into some focking Brazilian Rain-forest level swampy. And I do not love it. At all.

Fellow East-coasters: has this been your experience as well?

is it not miserably swampy when you start to get a a bit farther inland?

I'd trade Sin City weather for this every day of the week, bayou. I'm jealous of your lack of exposure to oppressive humidity levels.

*Well, Arlington. So like a mile away from the river. Close enough.

In K-zoo with a bunch of entitled juniors running around town. Who is going to qualify for the U.S. Open?

Cincy was a disaster with rain and injuries last year. These Masters series events get you up close, but they become a mess with no buffer days for rain and guys pulling out over any muscle pull.

My other play today was on Stan, but not for as much as I had on the parlay.

Rough gambling day for both of us. It happens.

I broke even, so it’s cool. I was able to hit Stan at +250 in the 2nd set when I saw that the crowd was 100% behind him. Screenshot since it sounds like bullshite...

I do this pretty often. It’s probably a bad move long term, but sometimes you don’t feel it.

MV's Remaining Draw Analysis:

Bunk wasn't kidding, eh?. We're already into the round of 16, buddy. Definitely feels super condensed to me, guy.

Top Quadrant:
TGGRN will handle Stan with relative ease. Cilic will have a tougher go of it against Diego, but I think he'll take it in three. Cilic v. Rafa will be interesting. I'd probably have to lean Rafa on current form, though, in fairness, the sample size is limited.

Bottom of Top Half Quadrant:
This is the weakest of the four quadrants from a player quality standpoint. I"ll take Shapo over Haase. I never have any idea who wins the tennis matches involving Isner, and so your guess is as good as mine. The purebred servebot has been having a better go of it these last few months than tennis deserves.

So, yeah, for the sake of tennis, I hope Shapo comes out of this quadrant, but I wont' be shocked if it's Isner.

The Top of the Bottom Half Quadrant:
So when is Kevin Anderson going to get the memo that he isn't particularly good at tennis? Seriously, what's going on? Is there a printer jam or something? Are we fresh out of toner? Well shite, in the absence of said memo, I feel like he'll advance to the next line.

I have absolutely no read on Tiafoe. You might even say I have like a negative read on him. He's on my fantasy team, and every time I've put him into the starting lineup, the fricking dude takes a first round L. So I sit him on my bench, and then he focking beats the guy that I have starting in his place. And then on top of that, he focking ruins my parlay. So, I dunno. I would lean Frankie T over Playboy Grigs, but this is not an opinion you wanna put a substantial stake on.

I'm going to go with the faint-hearted prediction of KA into the semis. Can somebody get him that memo? Seriously, Kinkos is open 24/7.

Bottom quadrant:
I've made known that I'm bullish on the teetsy fly, but Novak is gonna be a bit too big of an ask for the fiery yet poised youngster with the great face-punching form.

Novak will play Alex, of course in the next round, This is your de facto final This is the summer of Alex, so I'm going with Alex, who will then work over KA and play probably TGGRN in the final. Or maybe not. I mean, I realize I don't really know what the fock I'm talking about. and so this is merely the best guess of a man who doesn't know what the fock he's talking about.

I actually wouldn't mind seeing Rafa and Novak play on a hard court right now. We're in a different city for this one, but their final in the 2013 version of this event is one of my super-sleeper favorite matches of all time. No BS. That match was two guys at the peak of their powers playing some of the cleanest tennis that can be played.

ETA: It was actually the semifinal. Here is the third set breaker.

I grew up in south Louisiana, so rain and humidity was my life for 26 years. It’s probably what I miss the least.

Although when it’s between 100° and 115° for 12 hours a day for about 6 months, and in the 90’s at night, you start to get sick of heat pretty quickly. It beats the hell out of your east coast weather though.

Nice call. Tough to oppose Raonic with how dominant he looked vs. Goffin, but that’s usually the best time.

I’m rolling with Grigor tomorrow. At -135, it seems like a trap, but in pure tennis terms, he’s a better player. I wouldn’t mind seeing Tiafoe keep rolling though.

eta: Damn, Nadal sitting at -1000 against Stan. Stan coming into the match hurt or something?
