We had a Klip or something even more basic back in the day. I would wince when my brother cranked the tension thinking the racquet would snap.

I was pretty surprised when Priority One showed a video one day of how they do things. That Nate guy travels with the same old Babolat in a case all over the world. I honestly would rather have the on-site guys doing my racquets with higher-tech equipment, but I guess what you get from Priority One is consistency in stringer and machine.

He strings with a Babolat Star 3 - has been around a long time, is an absolute work horse and does as good a job as any machine out there. Stringing is definitely not rocket science, and once you get to an electronic tension head, most machine advancements are simply ergonomic in nature rather than making the string job better.

I have a Prince Neos with an electronic head, but stringing on a Klippermate (or other drop weight machine) is not hard at all, just takes longer. Nice thing about the drop weight machines is the fact that it is a continuous pull machine (tension is maintained constantly through clamping) as opposed to a crank or lockout machine which has a little tension loss right after the crank locks out before clamping. But as someone above alluded to, with a stringer, what really matters is consistency.

How long does it take you for 1 string job with that?

I'm usually at 45 minutes or so. I don't get in a real hurry.

Thanks.

Regarding Thiem, I’m not seeing anything about an injury. Last year he did lose 6-1, 6-0 to Joker in Rome then destroyed him 2 weeks later in the French, so who knows.

Rafa up to around -200 now for RG, which might still be too low.

45 minutes on a Klippermate (or similar machine) is nothing to sneeze at.

Good stuff, though I would shift Shapo to last year and maybe through in our boy Tennys for Jan and/or April shared awards.

True. I was thinking of only NextGen types, but Tennys is perfect for January.

Tsetse fly has a big game. I like how he can hit the slaphot flat forehand like Delpo or Berdych. His backhand reminds me of Guga or Gasquet. He is capable of beating Rafa in 2 out of 3 on clay, but it's not happening tomorrow. He was out of gas after two sets.

Surprised to see Sandgren as a dog against Tiafoe in Portugal. Stars at 10:20.

Dab nabbit. The clay court swing is not going as planned for him.

Did you see any of the match?
