what i'm saying is between here and the music board, there's not a single thing from my generation that's better than your generation. it's just really funny to me.

anyway, Murray needs to hang around longer so we can see more of this

We will agree to disagree. You saying there is NO debate just shows how uninformed you are. BTW you are prob some punk kid who never saw Sampras or Borg Play. NOW GTFO of this thread unless you want to talk about the match.

but federer at his best is the greatest tennis player of all time. I'm pretty confident in that

You're going to disagree with what I'm about to say. And you're gonna call me a moron. And others may join you. I'm prepared.

The 2011 / early-2012 version of Novak Djokovic -- his play has dropped a bit the last couple months, but I think we'll see a return to form -- was playing the best tennis that I have ever seen played.

If my life depends on the outcome of a match, and I can pick anybody in history (in their primes) to play on my behalf, I'm taking peak-form Djokovic.

He has no weaknesses. None.

I'm not old enough to see borg play in person, but I've watched most of his wimbledon finals and I've seen Sampras and Agassi in person.

federe is the best. no reason to argue though. he just has won the most is all

He was awesome. I will agree.

It depends on the surface. But I would take Nadal.

I don't feel like calling anyone an idiot right now or arguing

but I would say the same thing about federer in, what 2004 to 2008 or so, when he was number one for like 300 weeks

he didn't have any weaknesses then either

In any discussion like this, clear criteria should be established for determining greatness.

Usually there are two prongs:
1) most accomplished (resume test, so to speak)
2) best at their very best day (the "alien" test, or the "playing with your life on the line" test, which is really the same test)

People should decide which prong is being discussed before engaging GOAT discussions. Otherwise people just talk past one another.
