I wasn't actually trying to argue that Fed has been more successful, because he hasn't. Just trying to defend the ranking system a little bit. It's not perfect, obviously, but I don't think that these guys swapping spots if Fed makes the semi will be a huge injustice

Gotcha.

For the record, I don't pay much mind to the rankings. I think the system is fine if maybe a bit arbitrary. I didn't understand why people were getting their panties in a wad when Wozniacki was #1, as if playing lots of tournaments to accumulate points was some kind of crime against humanity.

You do realize this streak is long over?

Uhhhh, errrr, duuuhhhhh, a streak that Nadal will never come close to either.

Only because the rules don't allow him to play against Federer every round.

Sam won the 3rd set breaker 10-8. Up 2 sets to 1 on Raonic now.

Well, Fed has won something like 8 tournaments over the last 12 months and Nadal has won 2.

Notice you didn't answer my question.

eta: Saw your post, fair enough. I don't think its a grave injustice just wonky cause everyone knows who has been better.

Novak started dominating in the second set though. Roger is doing terribly. He's been broken in 2 of his last 3 service games and is struggling in this one right now. Benneteau just had yet another break point

This French guy is hanging tough, he won the first set and after Federer had an early break and a really poor unforced error in the second the French guy broke him right back.

It's in the second set and the French guy is trying to send it to tiebreak.

Don't know how long he can play at a high level before breaking down, or before Federer picks up his game.

Fed's quarterfinal streak might be coming to an end if he losses this tiebreak

That was a really long service game to send it to tiebreak from the Frenchman.

I'd say this is a must win set for Federer. But you never know, the French guy could start to fall apart.
