Not exactly “most exceptionally hostile” but I think it’s a good story for your topic.

In the late 90’s, I made my first trip to Fenway. It happened to be Roger Clemens first game back in Fenway as an opposing pitcher after he left for Toronto for FA.

They were booing him all game. Before the game they were handing out old timey Wild West cowboy posters - “wanted for treason” with Roger’s picture on it. The Boston faithful were rowdy.

After 8+ innings and 16 strike outs later, the blue jays went to the pen with a 3-1 lead. The Boston crowd cheered him on his way out. I can’t say it was a standing ovation…but they cheered.

Fast forward 25 years later. I meet Clemens at a golf tournament. I tell him this story and how he was my favorite player growing up. He tells me “I had 17 punchouts that game”.

I didn’t have the balls to correct him. I knew he was wrong. I scored the game as a kid and still have the score card.

The Rob Van Dam vs John Cena WWE championship match at an ECW venue with the ECW crowd

This is extremely underrated. John Cena was at his peak of hatred and walking into the most hostile wrestling crowd I've ever seen, not to mention its in a building that ECW lived in for a long time.

Superclasico. Boca Juniors vs River Plate.

Any Italian derby or Eastern European derby is also going to make an iron bowl crowd look like Sunday school.
